Stability is the big idea behind the Rossignol Evo XC 60 R-Skin, a recreational classic ski with a wider platform than most trail skis in its class. The 60 mm tip floats better in soft snow and feels planted when terrain gets uneven, a low-density wood core keeps it light and lively underfoot, and a replaceable mohair grip strip delivers quiet, prep-free kick across changing temperatures. Newer and heavier skiers get a forgiving trail ski that stays composed when conditions are less than perfect. [boot PKG overview]

Who it's for:

Beginner to intermediate recreational skiers who want a stable, low-maintenance classic ski for groomed trails and the occasional unprepared track. Particularly well suited to heavier skiers, skiers who value stability over pure speed, and anyone who finds narrower trail skis a bit too darty.

Things to consider:

The wider waist that makes the XC 60 stable also makes it slightly slower on hard, fast trails compared to the XC 55; if your skiing is mostly on well-groomed tracks, the narrower 55 is a more efficient choice. For real off-trail use the Evo series tops out short of what the XP backcountry skis can do.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Because the Evo range is built on a short-ski concept, the number on the ski won't match what you've skied before, and the published weight chart is the only reliable guide. This being the wider of the two Evo XC models, most skiers can take the chart length as it comes and let the extra platform do the stabilizing rather than adding length for it. [boot sizing specifics]
