DESCRIPTION

Your first season on a board, your tenth, or the cheap-and-cheerful second deck for the dorm closet, the Rossignol Ampage Vol.1 sits comfortably in all three lanes. It is a true twin freestyle ride built around a soft, manipulable flex and a forgiving rocker profile, with blunted tips that buy a little extra forgiveness when a press goes sideways. Rossignol pitches it at the entry-level rider, and we think that read is fair, the Ampage stays approachable without feeling like a toy. The graphic on Vol.1 leans graphic, dark, and orange, if colorway matters to the shopper.

Why we like it:

AmpTek Auto-Turn rocker takes most of the edge-catch worry out of those first switch landings, and the budget-conscious price tag does not come with a wood-and-fiberglass build that feels like a rental loaner.

Who it's for:

Beginners who want to actually own a board rather than rent one, and confirmed riders who want a soft, playful, switch-friendly deck for park laps and learning new tricks. Light skiers and lighter riders coming over from skiing will find it easy to flex underfoot.

Highlights:

Construction is straightforward and honest. A Wood 5620 core sits between fiberglass laminates and an Extruded 4400 base, all wrapped in the Rossitop 3 (TPU/ABS) topsheet that 94% of Rossignol's retail boards now use. The shape is a true twin with blunted tips. Where the Ampage gets interesting is its profile, AmpTek Auto-Turn runs 70% rocker to 30% camber, so the contact length stays shorter at low speed and edge angles for easy steering, and the camber pocket between the inserts gives just enough rebound to ollie off a roller. Sidecut is a deep progressive cut running 6.6m to 7.9m through the size range, no Serrated Edges or RadCut tech here, this is a no-frills park-and-progression deck. Centered inserts give equal switch performance regardless of stance.

Things to consider:

The extruded base will not match a sintered base for top-end speed, and asks for more wax over the season, that is the trade for the lower price. The 3/10 flex is forgiving but the rider chasing pop and stability at speed will outgrow it. The Sawblade is the natural step up in the Rossignol park lineup when that day comes.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Standard sizing applies for the Ampage Vol.1, with 146, 151, 155, and 159 in regular waist, and 156W and 161W for size 11+ boot shoppers. Drop a length from your usual all-mountain pick if you want a more buttery, jib-leaning ride. The wide variants kick in at US 11 and up to keep toes off the snow.
