DESCRIPTION

From the first pump track of the morning to a stash of leftover powder, the Salomon Dancehaul is built to make ordinary terrain feel a little more interesting. It's a unisex all-mountain freeride board with a short, fat profile that puts more surface area underfoot without the extra length, and a tapered directional shape that holds an edge cleanly while keeping swing weight low. The Dancehaul carries a freestyle attitude into freeride territory, with a medium flex and a hybrid camber profile that lets the rider lean into carves, drift through chop, or pop off whatever side hit shows up next.

Why we like it:

The combination of Rock Out Camber and Ghost Basalt Stringers gives this board a snappy, alive feel that the size doesn't really telegraph. The wide platform also keeps everything stable underfoot at speed, which is a nice surprise on a board this short.

Who it's for:

Riders who already have decent fundamentals and want a second board that's less serious than their main daily driver will get the most out of the Dancehaul. It rewards a playful style and pump-track instincts, and it's especially fun for anyone who likes finding side hits and quick slashes. Newer riders can grow into it too, since the medium flex is forgiving without feeling dead.

Highlights:

Volume Shift is the geometry trick that defines the Dancehaul. By widening the waist and shortening the overall length, Salomon packs the float and surface area of a longer board into a shorter, more maneuverable platform. The Tapered Directional shape sets a wider nose against a narrower tail for clean directional tracking, and the Radial sidecut keeps turn initiation predictable. Underfoot is a Popster wood core reinforced with Ghost Basalt Stringers, BIAX HD Fiberglass, and a 30% bio-based resin layup. The Rock Out Camber profile blends rocker at the tips with flat through the center and camber underfoot, while the Sintered base holds wax well for everyday riding. The whole build carries an FSC certified wood core.

Things to consider:

The Dancehaul is comfortable across a lot of terrain, but it's not built for hard, icy front-side charging. Anyone looking to lay down deep-angle carves on bulletproof groomers will be happier on the Sight or something else in the freeride family. The short-fat geometry also takes a run or two to dial in if a rider is used to a traditionally proportioned board.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Sizes short on purpose. The Dancehaul follows Salomon's volume-shift logic, so drop roughly 3 to 6 cm from your usual length to get the float and float-and-go feel the design was built around. The size run is wide-only, so larger-footed riders are covered without needing to step up to a separate wide model.
