DESCRIPTION

Storm mornings on mixed terrain are where the Salomon Sight does its best work. It's an all-mountain freeride board built around a tapered directional shape, with a medium flex and a Cross Profile rocker layout that floats the nose without dulling the edge hold underfoot. The Sight is one of the more accessible boards in Salomon's freeride lineup, putting a freeride-inspired feel within reach of intermediate riders building confidence. Cork rails, a Sintered base, and an approachable price point add up to a board that's serious about performance without asking the rider to be an expert to enjoy it.

Why we like it:

Royal Cork Pads in the sidewall zone give the Sight a damp, comfortable feel that's unusual at this tier. The Cross Profile camber, with rocker at the tips and camber underfoot, makes turn initiation smooth without giving up edge hold on hardpack.

Who it's for:

Intermediate to advanced riders who want a freeride-leaning all-mountain board without spending top-shelf money will fit this one perfectly. The Sight handles groomers and the occasional powder day with equal patience, and it's a great pick for someone progressing from an entry-level board into a more capable daily driver. Bigger-footed riders are also covered thanks to the wide options.

Highlights:

Salomon built the Sight around a Tapered Directional shape that runs a wider nose into a narrower tail, with a 20 mm setback stance to bias the rider's weight toward the back foot in soft snow. The Cross Profile pairs rocker through the tips with camber underfoot for a stable platform on edge and lifted contact points when conditions turn soft or choppy. The core is an Aspen and Popster blend wrapped in BIAX MD Fiberglass, and the sidewalls get Royal Cork Pads for vibration damping. An Extruded base keeps maintenance simple and forgiving of inconsistent waxing. A Quadratic sidecut rounds out the geometry. The board comes in regular and wide variants.

Things to consider:

This isn't the board for hard-charging experts looking to push the limits of edge angle and speed. The Assassin sits above the Sight in the Salomon line for that kind of duty, with a stiffer build and a Sintered EG base. The Extruded base here is also lower-maintenance than a Sintered base but won't hold as much wax for hardcore speed sessions.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Sizes true to length. Pick your usual size for a balanced all-mountain feel, or bump up a length for more glide and float on bigger snow days. Big-footed riders should look at the wide variants (155W, 158W, 162W, 166W), which are sized for boots in the size 11 US range and up to avoid heel and toe drag.
