Skiers ready to take tuning into their own hands will find the makings of a real home shop in the Swix Premium Kit. It brings together a compact ski vise, an adjustable edge-sharpening guide with file, a pair of liquid glide waxes including a race-grade topping for warm snow, and a cork to work it all in, packed into a large lockable kit bag. The payoff is sharp edges set to the angles you choose and a fast base whenever you want one, without waiting on a shop turnaround.

Why we like it:

The six-way file guide is the star. Being able to pick a side edge angle and hold it consistently down the full length of the ski is the difference between edges that feel sharp and edges that actually bite on hardpack.

Features and Functions:

Tuning starts with holding the ski still, and the two-piece Compact Ski Vise keeps it steady on a bench or table so both hands are free. From there, the TA3009 6-way file holder sets side edge bevels of 1°, 2°, 3°, or 4° and base edge bevels of 0.5° or 1°, and it comes with an 80mm file ready to go. Swix's R196 tuning glove guards against sharp edges, hot wax, and abrasive tools while leaving enough feel for detail work. On the wax side, PS7 Violet is a versatile 80ml liquid glide for -2°C to -8°C that works as a training wax on its own or as a base layer under racing products. TS10 Yellow is a 50ml liquid racing topping from Swix's Top Speed line, built for transformed, wet, and dirty snow from +2°C to +10°C; spray a thin layer, then run the T21 natural cork with felt over it right away to even the coat and work it into the base. A Big Boy Ski Strap keeps the pair together, and everything locks away in Swix's large kit bag.

Bottom Line:

This is the kit for the race parent, the masters racer, or the hardpack skier who wants shop-quality edges at home. It covers the full cycle of holding, sharpening, and waxing, and the race topping means it's as ready for a spring race day as it is for a weeknight tune.
