The 2026 K2 Sky Pilot with Salomon District Pro Team Bindings is a volume-shifted directional freeride setup co-developed with Sage Kotsenburg. Built for steep lines, tight trees, and deep snow days, this board delivers edge hold and carving power with a surprising amount of agility. A slightly wider shape, subtle setback stance, and Directional Combination Camber profile come together with 3D-contoured tips for smooth transitions, float, and precise control on variable snow.
Why we like it:
The Sky Pilot strikes an impressive balance between stability and liveliness in technical terrain. The medium flex and S1 Core keep things damp and composed at speed, while bamboo stringers and the Carbon Y-Beam provide just the right amount of pop and drive for energetic turns and powerful exits.
Who it's for:
Designed for intermediate to expert freeriders who venture beyond the resort boundary or charge hard in-bounds. This board works especially well for riders with larger boots or those who prefer the nimble feel of a shorter, wider board that doesn’t compromise on performance.
Highlights:
The Sky Pilot’s Directional Combination Camber profile supplies precision underfoot and smooth float in soft snow, with tip rocker easing turn initiation and boosting powder agility. A Carbon Y-Beam enhances energy transfer between contact points, keeping carves crisp and reactive. The S1 Core, a blend of bamboo, aspen, and paulownia, reduces vibration while keeping the board light and poppy. Triax fiberglass boosts torsional rigidity for confident edge grip, and a wax-infused sintered 4001 base keeps things fast in all snow conditions. The 3 mm tip and tail contour softens edge transitions and improves powder maneuverability. The 45% fiberglass nylon ShadowFit baseplate keeps things damp yet responsive, thanks to its direct energy transfer from boot to board. Upgraded Ultra-Fit toe straps and new micro-adjust heel straps increase precision without sacrificing comfort, while the asymmetrical District highback supports freestyle flexibility with enough stiffness to hold an edge at speed. Full EVA padding underfoot and tool-free adjustment throughout round out the package, making this one of the most customizable freestyle bindings on the market.
Things to consider:
This board is built for directional riding and excels in forward-facing lines. While it has some playfulness, it’s not aimed at riders looking for a jib-friendly or switch-dominant board.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Riders are encouraged to size down 4 to 10 cm from their usual length. Thanks to the wider platform and responsive shape, it delivers stability and float at shorter lengths without sacrificing control.
