Tyrolia Protctor 11 GW Bindings
SKU 114690The Tyrolia Protector EVO PR 11 GW brings the brand's full heel release safety platform to the trail and all-mountain crowd in a system binding format. It rides on Tyrolia's PowerRail base, which mounts the binding on a rail rather than flat to the ski, and pairs the TX BTR toe with the Protector heel for lateral as well as vertical release. It is a binding for everyday resort skiers who want modern release-safety engineering under their boots.
Why we like it:
The Protector heel's full heel release is the reason to pay attention; the lateral release path is tied to a real reduction in ACL strain during backward-twisting falls, and getting that in an approachable trail binding is the whole point of the EVO PR. The PowerRail system also makes mounting and adjustment more flexible than a flat binding.
Who it's for:
Intermediate to advanced skiers who spend most of their time on groomers and trail-side all-mountain terrain and want a dependable binding with strong release-safety credentials. The 3-11 DIN range covers a wide span of lighter to moderately strong skiers. It suits skiers who value safety and easy adjustment over freeride-specific stiffness.
Highlights:
The EVO PR 11 GW is built on the PowerRail system, a rail-mounted base that gives the ski room to flex underfoot and makes setup more adjustable than a flat mount. At the back, the HR Heel carries Tyrolia's full heel release, adding a 180-degree lateral release path on top of the standard vertical release. The TX BTR toe up front uses Tyrolia's backward-twisting-fall kinematics for more consistent release values, and an AFS GW anti-friction device keeps the boot sliding smoothly. The stand height runs taller at 33.5mm because of the rail system, with a 5.5mm ramp. It is GripWalk compatible alongside standard alpine soles and built in Austria.
Things to consider:
As a PowerRail system binding, the 33.5mm stand height sits noticeably taller than a flat freeski binding, which some skiers will feel. The 11 DIN ceiling also means heavier or more aggressive skiers should look at a higher-DIN option in the Tyrolia range.
Fit & sizing considerations:
The Protector EVO PR 11 GW accepts alpine (ISO 5355) and GripWalk (ISO 23223) adult boot soles. As a system binding it is matched to a PowerRail base; brake widths are selected to match the ski's waist. A certified technician should handle mounting and verify the release settings.
