The Fischer Twin Skin Pro is a performance level classic ski that’s about half the price of World Cup level race skis, which makes it an excellent value. There’s a lot of trickle-down technology in these skis, including most notably the Twin Skin system. This grip system is taking the world by storm as it’s far easier to use than applying kick wax, offers great grip, and is also very fast. Nordic racers all over the world are slowly switching the twin skin skis, and there’s no wonder why. Fischer’s Air Tec Basalite construction is nice and lightweight, while providing a lot of energy and responsiveness as well. As skiers improve their classic technique, or for skiers who already have accomplished technique, you’ll really value the performance and feel of the Twin Skin Pro.
Jeff Siegel is lucky enough to own a pair of the Twin Skin Pro skis from Fischer, so let’s consider his feedback more of an extended test. “Because the Fischer Twin Skin Pro is performance oriented, I was concerned that I would have trouble with it. But it turns out, it's really easy to ski. I had no trouble getting going. On some performance skis, I felt like I didn't have the technique to properly work the camber, but these gripped when I wanted grip and slid when I wanted them to slide. And if I really focused on my technique, I could bring them up to a pretty good clip. Feels like a ski I could use now and not outgrow.”

PREFERRED TERRAIN
Valuable feedback from Jeff, who’s still relatively new to XC skiing. It’s important for new skiers to get a ski that’s relatively forgiving, as the really high-end skis require precision technique that would leave a beginner or even an intermediate relatively frustrated at the lack of grip they find. It’s really nice to know that Jeff didn’t feel that way, which is a good sign for new skiers. You can pick up a ski with a really high performance ceiling, but that will also feel approachable and forgiving as you progress. Jeff also commented about the ability to move the bindings forward or back. “I also really like the binding system. All of these skis with the adjustable bindings made it easy for me to dial in a little extra grip when I needed it.”
For skiers looking for race-level performance, but in a more affordable and more forgiving package, the Twin Skin Pro from Fischer is excellent. These share a lot of performance with the Twin Skin Carbon and Speedmax, but are about half the price. Not only that, but they’re actually better suited for most skiers. Not all of us are World Cup racers, and for us mere mortals, it’s nice to have a performance oriented ski like the Twin Skin Pro.
