Due to the emergence and popularity of backcountry skiing and touring over the past few years, ski companies have been quick to catch up. The Rossignol BC 65 is a perfect example of how supply meets demand and how consumers can drive innovation to make an incredible ski with limitless versatility. Based on the incredibly popular OT 65, the BC adds a full metal edge and a denser wood core. In addition, we have them paired with an NNN BC binding, so when you add BC boots to the deal, you’re getting a ton of control with a lot of upside.

Pretty much anyone who’s ever been on a pair of BC 65’s loves them. From beginner skiers looking to get out there and have fun to advanced and experts who are interested in long tours and sincere adventures, the BC 65 has a little something for everyone. The fully-edged ski has enough bite in it for a fairly aggressive attack to the side hills, giving skiers the confidence and the comfort that they need to get from point A to point B in comfort and style. I got on these last year, and as an owner of the OT 65, I was interested in seeing the difference. Most of my personal skiing is done at the cross-country center, in the tracks with family and friends. The BC 65 seems like more of an individual and adventure ski that kind of wants to be used solo. Certainly, it can go with other people, but that was my main impression of the differences.

Backcountry • Backyard • Golf Courses • Groomed Tracks • Nordic Center • Power Lines • Snowshoe Trails

Built with a wood core with milled out spots to save weight, the Rossignol BC 65 has the right build to take you farther than you ever thought possible. Backcountry skiing is all about exploration and having fun out there, and these skis have the build and the shape to accomplish both with aplomb. The wood in the core is snappy and energetic, and it matches the camber of the skis, which is on the high side for a BC setup. This makes the ski more versatile in terms of an in and out of track performance characteristic. As previously stated, it’s got the same shaping and overall utilitarian concept as the OT 65, so it’s useful both in the Nordic center’s groomed tracks and in the pristine backcountry that hasn’t seen ski tracks in a long time. Positrack fish scale traction is perfect for climbing and ascending in difficult terrain and conditions, allowing you to access some distant points and adventurous peaks, no matter what your ski level is. There’s a lot to like about these skis, and most people who get on them love their utility and versatility. Again, there’s not much they cannot do.

Skiers in the intermediate to advanced range should get the best performance out of this setup, allowing those skiers to not only access backcountry terrain, but also to keep in touch with their classic cross-country roots. From the in-track shuffling to the backcountry blazers, the Rossignol BC 65 with positrack grip will take you further than you’ve ever been before, with confidence and precision all at the same time.
