Built the same as the men’s version but with shorter lengths and a different graphic, the 2022 Fischer RC One 82 GT W is a powerful front side carver that will hold up to the demands of advanced and expert lady skiers all day long. Built with a wood core and two sheets of metal, these things are ready to rip. The 166 produces a 15-meter turn radius, so when you get these things up on edge, they really start to sing. Shorter to medium-radius turns are right in these skis’ wheelhouse, as they love to have that full edge contact with the snow. As a result of the stability and power of the skis, they are a great option for skiers who know how to engage a turn, and are more active participants in the carving process. Thanks to Fischer’s long-standing tradition of and reputation for building great skis with fantastic edge grip, these RC One 82 GT W skis are an amazing choice for former racers and experts who spend the majority of their time on the groomed trails. Just a bit of versatility built in for all-mountain exploration, these skis do have a fun factor, but are definitely happier railing carved turns on the corduroy.

Alix Klein was on the 166 and noted that the length was really nice, for a slalom ski. For more all-mountain capabilities and a longer radius, she’d opt for the longer ski. She gave top marks of 5’s out of 5 for stability, torsional stiffness, and edge hold, which are right on track with the intended use of the ski. Flotation, forgiveness, and versatility were all down there on her score card, as those categories do not really lend themselves to the purpose of the 82 GT. She notes as such: “This is not a one quiver ski. It rails turns and shows you where your weakness lies in your turn shape and balance. It's super quick edge to edge but it doesn't like to release the tail of the ski. It loves to carve beautiful medium radius railroad tracks.” Most skiers, in most locales, would look to a slightly wider and more all-mountain build for their one-ski quiver for sure, but if you don’t venture off trail much, these would likely do just fine. Ann MacDonald also found the 166 to be a good length, with lots of 4’s on her scorecard for stability, quickness, maneuverability, versatility, and overall impression. Like Alix, Ann gave a low score for flotation, as powder skis these are not. Ann states that this is a “Great carving ski! Stable. Easy quick turns but also good when opened up the radius. Front side fun for an intermediate/advanced skier. Impressed that it skied its length!”

Ali Kaminer-Berlin noted that her 166 (all testers were on the 166, actually) felt a little long for her, as she’d likely opt for the shorter size for a carving ski like this. Ali scored top marks of 4’s out of 5 for stability, torsional stiffness, edge hold, quickness, maneuverability, versatility, and overall impression. For an 82 mm underfoot ski, these are some consistently high scores, and we’re all about it. “Skis were quick and fast reacting in changing snow conditions. They sliced through the crud when put on edge and held steady throughout the turn. Intended for an energetic intermediate/advanced skier who is looking to kick it up a notch on the groomers with a ski that is lighter weight but will hold fast on those medium to large radius turns. Skied well in the bumps. Not intended for off-piste/tree skiing but you would be fine if you ended up there with these skis on.” And finally, Alli Ruschp (Alix, Ann, Ali, and Alli all testers, lol) “Loved this ski and want to add it to my quiver, I forgot how much fun a narrower ski can be. With an 82 mm waist, this is a fun front side carver that is quick to turn, and a delight to ski at the resort. For the skier that stays on-trail, and likes to turn this is an excellent choice. Not too demanding, yet stiff enough for edge hold in harder conditions. I was confident taking this ski all over the mountain, had a little play for the crud and bumps. I have been wanting a "slalom-ish" ski and this is even better because you can make quick short turns or ride out a longer turn when you want.” Sounds good to us, Alli!

Lots of love for the Fischer RC One 82 GT W from our testers this year. Even though we got some softer testing conditions, these skis were consistently high-scorers with above-average praise. We love seeing it out of these wonderful 82’s and we’re stoked that they checked a lot of boxes for our advanced and expert-level lady testers.
