2025 Nordica Enforcer 99 and Enforcer 104 On Snow Ski Review & Comparison

JANUARY 3, 2025 | WRITTEN BY Bob St.Pierre

We had a blast today getting out on the 2025 Nordica Enforcers 99 and 104. Last year we spent most of our time on these skis in a more all-mountain/frontside realm while today we got to test them out in what we’d call “ideal” Enforcer conditions and terrain. On the heels of a nice snowstorm, we put these two skis to the test. The best part is that this is not a video/article pointing to one being better than the other, rather just a celebration of both skis in what we’d consider to be their natural environments. We were reminded of a few things going through this process—first, the Enforcer 104 turns impossibly well. It’s such an incredible carver and offers so much performance when pushed. Second, the 99 is a crazy-versatile ski. With new tail rocker and a different feel than the outgoing 100, it’s tough to come up with a downside or a limitation to this ski.

Our two main terrain choices for today were Nosedive, a long trail that starts off steep and technical and ends up wide and mellow, and Starr/Starr woods, a classic Stowe Front Four skiing adventure. With a few inches of snow and a wind-affected base from yesterday’s storm, Nosedive was in prime Enforcer shape. The 99 held up great while the 104 blew it away. There’s a noticeable increase in power and stability with the extra width and flatter tail versus the 99. When the snow gets choppy, like it did today, the 104 handled that adversity much better than the 99. This is not to say the 99 struggled, but it was interesting to see just how much the new 104 takes advantage of its width and shape to make that type of snow feel like a smooth groomer. The 99, we both found, was more willing to change turn shape and style at high speeds and was considerably quicker from edge to edge. Starr from the top is a very steep and unique trail. We dipped in the adjacent woods to our Vermont version of a chute, and both skis were surprisingly nimble. Popping out on the trail, the left side is where the snow collects, and if you stay to the wood side, you’re normally rewarded with some very soft turns. The 104 is the better floater, but not by much. When we dipped back into the woods, we appreciated the supportive nature of the ski, but both felt that the demand was there as well—lighter skis certainly are easier on the knees in these types of situations. Black Crows Atris or Elan Ripstick 102 are easier and surfier to ski, but you don’t get the same relative performance. On this day, at least, we thoroughly enjoyed both Enforcers in our natural snow and terrain.

The updates to these skis over the past year have certainly brought a new feel and character. While some skiers will miss the more flexible and playful 104 Free, and others will lament at the loss of the flatter tail of the 100, I think most skiers will find the new 99 and 104 to be outright superior skis. For me, on the 104, it’s hard to imagine a more satisfying ski experience on a soft groomed run. Similarly, it’s tough to pinpoint a ski that has a higher performance ceiling and more versatility than the new 99. These skis occupy the top end of the performance spectrum, and the fact that they deliver this type of all-around behavior in a myriad of conditions and terrain is nothing short of amazing.
