2027 Ski Test Behind the Scenes: 2027 DPS Pisteworks 94 Skis

The 2027 DPS Pisteworks 94 returns structurally unchanged, but we get a second graphic option for the upcoming year. This graphic features more of a see-through pattern to give the skier a bit of a view into how and why these skis work the way that they do. Built with DPS’s Dual Layer wood core consisting of poplar on top of red oak, the ski totally eats vibrations. As usual with their high-end builds, DPS uses two full sheets of high modulus carbon sheets and a third carbon power plate underfoot. This third carbon layer really adds stiffness, grip, and power to the ski, while the rest is surprisingly flexible. With more rocker and taper than you may expect from a “Pisteworks” ski, this 94 is quite versatile in turn shape, style, and application.

Towards the end of day three, Jeff and I were searching the racks for a ski to film. I gleefully suggested a Pisteworks 94 as I had skied it earlier in the day. Jeff scoffed and scowled but then relented. I don’t think he wanted to ski a carbon-powered ski in such firm conditions; he wanted some metal. It didn’t take long for that attitude to flip, though, as he quickly came around and found that the Pisteworks 94, despite its light weight, wider bodied format, and carbon laminates actually grips and rips carved turns on some real hard packed snow. We were both incredibly impressed with the edge grip and smoothness on extremely firm surfaces. The fact that you can get the whole ski to engage due to the flex is its secret superpower, and then the carbon’s ability to tighten it up and hold on tight is the unsung hero of this ski. It’s a very rare combination of attributes. One of the main aspects that we enjoy is the quickness of the ski when running a bit flatter—this is super helpful in the bumps and trees. While the Pisteworks title does lend more to the on-trail mentality, I personally can’t help but think this is a pure all-mountain ski with even a bit of freeride flair due to the rocker and more flexible nature.
