2027 Ski Test Behind the Scenes: 2027 Kastle Sublime 88
While the Kastle MX 88 will continue to get top billing in the performance department, do not sleep on this new Sublime 88. Built with Kastle’s Twin Core, consisting of both softer and harder woods, two sheets of metal, and a milled tip, the Sublime 88 is still a very high-performance ski. It does take a bit of the edge off of the MX line, notably with a slightly more forgiving core and shape. With rounder tips and tails, these skis are easier to engage and finish a turn while adding versatility to the mix. The 180 cm length features an 18.4-meter turn radius and a weight of just about 2000g/ski. This makes Sublime 88 a powerful ski with an all-mountain feel.
While test conditions were firm, to say it nicely, we found the Sublime 88 more than capable of handling whatever we found. Whether it was an inch of snow on top of pure ice or smooth hardpack, the energy of the ski delivered a lot of satisfaction in a variety of turn shapes and styles. We learned that the MX 88 still makes top marks in precision and power, but many skiers will be WAY happier on the Sublime 88 in terms of general daily use. As always, Kastle puts their quality construction at the top of their priority list as this ski feels and acts like a high-end product.
