How to Maintain Ski Edges for Park Skiing and Sliding Rails

FEBRUARY 20, 2025 | WRITTEN BY Jeff Neagle

Do you ski in the park? Do you slide rails? If you do, you’re probably well aware of the wear and tear it puts on ski edges. Taking the appropriate steps to maintaining your edges for use on rails can go a long way. Not only will it make the entire skiing experience better as your skis will feel smoother in any application, it will also increase the longevity of your skis.

The process is relatively simple overall. You need a diamond stone of medium to coarse grain, a gummy stone, and you should be equipped with some rubber bands and a rag if you want to make the process as easy and clean as it can be. A word of caution: don’t run your hands along ski edges during this process. You can easily get little metal splinters, which are not fun at all. Gloves would be ideal, but if you’re careful with a rag, that will work too.

Follow along on the video above and if you follow these steps, your skis will feel significantly better on rails and should last you a bit longer too!
