The Blizzard Black Pearl 84 returns unchanged for 2026, resulting in a lineup for ladies that takes the solid performance we've come to expect from the Black Pearl and brings it to new heights. Blizzard utilizes wood, carbon, and Titanal for a perfectly balanced flex along the length of the ski to ensure power and stability where you need it, and versatility and playfulness when you want it. As the narrowest of the Black Pearls, the 84 plays best on piste, but with a tapered tip and tail, all-condition rocker profile, and added camber underfoot, you’ve got a capable ski that can handle just about anything you throw at it.
Why we like it:
Building on the success of the previous version, Blizzard has made a few much-appreciated tweaks that really make this ski an appealing option for skiers across a broad range of ability levels.
Who it's for:
The Black Pearl 84 is a fantastic option for intermediate skiers looking to expand upon their skillset. Advanced skiers who prefer a more mellow pace will also get a ton out of the 84 and will enjoy the easy and intuitive feel of this ski.
Highlights:
The intuitive nature of the Black Pearl 84 is a real talking point here. It’s incredibly friendly and easy ski to ski, making it an exceptional choice for intermediates who would benefit from an accessible ski that can grow with them as they progress. We often see intermediate-level skis that lack power and performance once you start to push hard, but the 84 Pearls feel strong and stable, even as they’re put through their paces by a more advanced skier. Blizzard achieves all this by adding Fluxform, a layer of Titanol that provides torsional strength and stiffness to the ski, allowing for greater stability and improved edge grip for a confident and predictable skiing experience.
Things to consider:
There are a lot of choices when it comes to frontside oriented all mountain skis. The Black Pearl 84’s are a great choice for many, but skiers searching for a true frontside carving ski should look elsewhere, as the 84’s tendency toward versatility puts it on the freeride end of the category. Conversely, there are more appropriate wider options if you’re someone looking to get off-trail and explore the soft snow.
