Smooth turning ski. Tail releases, no drag, narrower than what I would normally ski but not controlling like some narrow skis. Almost playful.

I would ski these on groomers but would not be afraid of taking them in the bumps.

At first appearance I thought it would be short, but it was not at all. She felt great. Blowed through the heavy fresh snow and griped to the ice underneath.

This ski wants to cartve but is happy sliding turns in the bumps and crud.

If you want a ski that feels like it would be a big spoon and hold you through the night, this would be that ski. The 84 was nimble enough to bust out some quick turns then let it run with the longer length. It always came back around despite the crusty and variable snow. The level of security you would want anyone to feel from a loving partnership.

Probably a little skinny underfoot for powder skis but absolutely game on for anything else.

The Kastle MX84 was incredible on the ice and groomers, so fast, fun, and made great turns. Super stable and damp, with not a bit of chatter even at speed.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
They were PERFECT for hardpack, ice, and wide-open groomers. I don't think they would be ideal for trees, tight bumps etc, but unbeatable for today's conditions.

Definitely for advanced or expert skiers who want to go fast and carve hard. Not for cruising or taking it easy, but perfect for those who love speed and precision.

Having never raced, I was a bit unsure when the rep said they were for ex-racers but they were one of the best skis I tried all day! A frontside rocket, for sure!

Hard charging, but with lots of little breaks. I mostly chase where the snow is good and skiing is fun rather than particular terrain, although I do love a technical line. I am almost never in the park and would never touch a race course.

These feel like rocket boots, easily the fastest skis I’ve ridden over 80mm width.

These are for groomed trails only, but they handle corn like a charm and cut through sheer ice like butter.

Experts and advanced skiers with strong carving ability will like this ski. It likes to carve and always wants to be on edge, so you have to be ready for the edge to catch, but when you’re charging it through carved turns it completely opens up, and the slightly softer tips than comparable competitors gives it a tad more dampness and forgiveness in variable snow.

I want to buy one of these, they’re a ton of fun. One of the best wider carvers on the market.

It depends on with whom I'm skiing. Everything from Toll Road to Liftline (slowly) with my wife, to Centerline bumps/woods/any groomer at speed if alone or with other friends. I calibrate to the worst skier so everyone has fun typically

This was a front side ski that loved going faster and ripping big turns at speed, holding well on groomers and frozen granular/ice surfaces. It's stable and damp at speed and moderately quick edge to edge in short turns, but it really wants to go fast. These are a trail burning, fast ski.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
Groomers and light off-piste.

Advanced and expert skiers will be able to get great high speed performance out of this ski, whereas beginner and intermediate skiers might find it a bit fast and unforgiving of a more upright skiing style.

The MX84 was stable in packed powder at speed. The icy conditions challenged edge control through turns.

I believe the MX84 to be an excellent frontside performer with short to GS turns well within its design wheelhouse. Has excellent side cut stability and decent radius.

Advanced skiers will enjoy the stability of the MX 84 at speed.

This ski felt great right from the start. It was zippy and responsive and was able to edge well on the granular.

Perfect for granular and packed powder groomers. They would be fun in bumps because you can do quick turns and they feel really sturdy and edgeable with not too much effort.

Intermediate skiers will easily ski these. I think a beginner looking to up their game and move up to the next ski would find this really accessible.

The first impression of the Kastle MX84's was that they are okay. Not a rave review, I know. They skied well and were solid on ice. They seemed a bit heavy and were not super fun. They were good all around but are just not for me. I'm not rushing out to purchase them. I like faster turning, and a little lighter and more playful ski. So they didn’t WOW me, but I didn’t hate them either.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
I would recommend these for groomers and icy conditions. They seem solid for skiing fast and they would blast through crud and denser snow, but they are not quick to turn, so would not be ideal in the trees or tight moguls.

The appropriate ability level for these skis is probably intermediate to advanced because of how heavy they are.

I skied this on piste at Stowe Mountain Resort on a combination of Perry Merrill, Gondolier, and some woods in between. The snow was machine groomed frozen granular and firm hardback with a half inch of fresh snow on top.

This ski felt a little short, but it was true to size. I think I'd have preferred a size up for myself, but it wasn't available.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
I liked this ski a lot. I can't remember if the MX84 is new this year, but for me it solves the problem of the MX88 from Kastle which is that the MX88 is just a touch too wide to be a groomer ski, but then is too well built from the race room to be a playful all mountain ski. This ski slots in much better for me as a true all mountain ski with the piste performance that will get you through most of the firm packed days.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
I think this is a true all mountain ski, and while its race room construction is going to find it most at home on piste, the lower waist width (vs it's sibling MX88) makes it more snappy and maneuverable in chopped up pow, bumps, trees, and all manner of unpisted terrain but for deep deep pow.

This ski is for intermediate to advanced skiers. This would be a fine ski to grow into.

I like this ski a lot. It really is what I have always wanted the MX88 to be. The 84 width is just the extra little bit narrower to get the ski to both perform on piste at a higher level, but also be nimble and agile in an all mountain environment. This ski slots in somewhere between a Peregrine 82 from Volkl and the Rossi Forza 70 degree on the piste performance spectrum. The Rossi is higher piste performance, but the Volkl is a bit lower. Wouldn't mind if a pair of these were mine.

I'd say I'm an advanced-ish skier with a racing background but been skiing quite conservatively over the last few years. Slowly getting back into a more aggressive riding style -- trying to hit bigger lines and hit them smooth, going outside of my comfort zone but not beyond my limits!

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
Really enjoyed this ski as it matches my style extremely well. It's very strong and planted with a lot of precision, especially in turn initiation. You can really trust it in every turn. There is also a lot of energy packed into it, so that can be super fun if you know how to use it. Sometimes that energy can come quickly so you need to be ready for it.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
This is an on-piste specific carver, and it does it well. Would be a lot to handle off groomed trails since the tails are quite flat and squared off.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
Advanced to expert skiers will be able to reap the benefits of the MX84. The torsional stiffness, power and energy would be a bit too demanding for less experienced skiers.

I'd say I'm an advanced-ish skier with a racing background but been skiing quite conservatively over the last few years. Slowly getting back into a more aggressive riding style -- trying to hit bigger lines and hit them smooth, going outside of my comfort zone but not beyond my limits!

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
This thing is wild, insanely planted and smooth. Definitely not something I would own, but would certainly ski it any chance I got. It felt like the MX84 but stiffer and more racey. Because of its stiffness and power, it does want to be driven and therefore requires a lot of consistent input. But those efforts are very much rewarded in every turn.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
On-piste carving specialist, that's about it and there is nothing wrong with that.

Aggressive advanced and expert skiers would be the best fit for this ski. Less experienced skiers will struggle with the stiffness, power, and precision.

While it's on the short side, it's a lot of fun to hook into the shorter arc of this ski. I'd go 183 if I were to choose for myself.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
The MX84 is a very sharp and precise ski that is not very forgiving of mistakes. You need to be on top of it and engaged--an active part in the skiing process--in order to get all of the performance. It's not a shy ski but it is very rewarding if you are able to deposit the proper input.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
While it's technically an all-mountain ski in the mid-80's, the MX84 works way better in an on trail format than anything else. It's a very accomplished carver and likes firmer and smoother surfaces.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
This ski likes to be steered and driven by an accomplished skier. If you're a progressing intermediate, it'll be hard to find the top end of this ski and therefore might not be the best choice.

The MX84 continues to be a leader in clean, round carves at the stated radius.

Ski was super snappy and fun on trail. Definitely more of a frontside carver that seemed very approachable. Not super jacked up and stiff but fun, playful, responsive, and snappy. Similar to a wingman or ripstick

My first impression was that they missed the wax! They were holding back on the fresh snow over groomed surface. Once on the slopes the ski was smooth turning, quick, stable in changing conditions.
Appropriate Terrain
I’d say they handle all terrain very well! And while I think they would be better on packed surfaces, they handled varied conditions amazingly smoothly. I went from groomed to powder to mixed and they didn’t miss a beat. Great edge control on hard surface.

An expert will love these on all surfaces and conditions! They could help an intermediate become an expert. The design of the ski gives you a solid feel that it will handle anything you encounter.
