DESCRIPTION

Versatility meets race DNA in the Kastle MX84, an all-mountain ski with serious frontside chops. The poplar and beech wood core, double titanal layup, and stiff full-camber shape add up to a demanding ride that rewards strong technique with locked-in edge grip and real power on hard snow.

Why we like it:

Hollowtech Evo is the standout here. Thinning out the shovel material drops swing weight and damping noise where you feel it most: turn initiation and the transition between turns. The result is a ski that feels lighter than it actually is and bites into the snow without any chatter.

Who it's for:

Strong intermediates ready to step up, plus advanced and expert skiers who want a precise, race-influenced all-mountain ski with a frontside bias. Lazy or passive skiers should look elsewhere; this ski wants to be driven.

Highlights:

The MX line has always been Kastle's most demanding all-mountain offering, and the MX84 keeps that DNA intact. Underneath the hood you get an Infini Core AMTN, which uses high-density poplar and beech vertical stringers tuned specifically for all-mountain use. Two layers of Titanal sandwich that core, giving the ski the kind of dampness and edge connection that's normally reserved for race skis. The Full Race Sidewall keeps power transfer crisp from the boot down to the edge, and the Milled Tip cleans up the swing characteristics. There's no rocker in the tip at this width, so you get full edge contact from end to end, which is exactly what you want when you're trying to lay clean carves at speed. The shape is moderate, with a 16.3-meter radius at the 176, putting it in classic mid-radius territory. It's a ski you can lean into without worrying about it washing out. On softer snow days it's not the most floaty thing in the world, but the wider tail compared to a true frontside ski means it doesn't get hung up either. Just stay forward and let the construction do its job.

Things to consider:

This is a stiff, capable ski that asks for technique. If you're an intermediate looking for something to coast on, the MX84 will outclass you. The 84mm waist also means it's not a soft-snow specialist; deeper days will have you wishing for a wider Sublime or Transcend. And while Hollowtech Evo cuts swing weight, this is still a substantial ski overall, so it rewards skiers with the strength and skill to put it on edge consistently.

Fit & sizing considerations:

True to length. Pick your usual size for this style of all-mountain ski. If you're between two lengths and you ski aggressively, bump up to the longer option for added stability at speed.
