DESCRIPTION

Engineered for advanced and expert skiers, the 2027 Kastle Paragon 101 is a high-performance all-mountain freeride ski designed to dominate both on-piste and off-piste terrain. With a 101 mm waist, this ski strikes the perfect balance between stability, power, and precision—making it your go-to tool for carving groomers and exploring technical off-piste lines.

Why we like it:

The Paragon 101 stands out in the 100 mm freeride category for its unmatched versatility and on-trail performance. Whether you're arcing high-speed turns on hardpack or navigating off-trail soft snow, this ski delivers confidence, precision, and responsiveness anywhere on the mountain.

Who it's for:

Advanced to expert skiers seeking top-tier carving performance with off-piste versatility. It’s not the easiest in tighter, more technical terrain for less experienced skiers but offers a smooth and composed chassis for exploration and experimentation.

Highlights:

The Paragon utilizes Kastle’s InfiniCore Free Technology which is a blend of extremely thin stringers of poplar, beech, and paulownia in order to fine tune the flex pattern of the ski in a torsional and longitudinal manner. This wood core is then boosted to two titanal laminates which provide vibration damping and edge grip on firm and in variable snow. HollowTech 2.0 Tips reduce the swing weight for improved agility and easier turn initiation in tight and technical terrain. Hook Free Shovels and Tails taper profiles promote a catch-free, pivot-friendly feel while maintaining solid edge hold on firmer snow.

Things to consider:

While capable in tighter terrain like bumps and trees, the Paragon 101 truly excels at speed. Its directional design and construction encourage a fast, aggressive skiing style—ideal for skiers who like to open it up on big terrain. It’s lack of tail rocker compared to other freeride skis in this category means that there are other more maneuverable options out there but the Paragon sticks out as one of the more versatile and sophisticated 100 mm underfoot freeride all-mountain skis.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis true to size.

This is a very stable ski at speed but it’s softer tip and tail seem made it fun to ski even in variable conditions.

Location, Terrain, Snow Conditions Notes
Stowe Perry Merrill, Lord and Gondolier on top of frozen snow from prior days thaw. Despite pretty lousy conditions these skis handles the conditions very well.
Did this length feel short, long, or just right? Would you recommend sizing up or down, or does it ski "true to size?" Would you choose this length for yourself?
Just right in length.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
This is a very stable ski at speed but it’s softer tip and tail seem made it fun to ski even in variable conditions. Too bad the cinditions didn’t allow testing in more types of snow. The skis even did well in frozen moguls.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
There was no powder to ski, but think these skis would be great in eastern powder, soft snow, moguls and not too tight trees (for example Tres Amigos). But they also did quite well on hard pack, and held an edge well and felt quite stable. Not quite as “snappy” as the Paragon 93 given the width, but still great on groomers.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
Advanced/expert skier.
Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?
I really like this ski and will probably buy a pair (unless I buy the Paragon 93!). Again, while hard to truly test all mountain characteristics with the days conditions, it seems like it should be a good single quiver ski.
