2025 Volkl Mantra 102 Skiswith Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings

The 2025 Volkl Mantra 102 with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings combines the versatility of a wide-bodied freeride ski with the high end performance that Volkl is known for, delivering exceptional stability and smoothness. While its width places it on the wider side for an all-mountain ski, the 102’s robust build and relatively short radii firmly position it within Volkl’s all-mountain range. Incorporating titanal and carbon in its construction, it stands out as one of the most durable skis in the +100 mm category. We paired the 102 with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders..

Why we like it:

Despite its fairly wide 102 mm waist, the Mantra 102 provides remarkable smoothness, composure, and carving capability. It genuinely feels like a race ski when carving turns.

Who it's for:

This ski is designed for advanced to expert skiers who are physically strong and consistently drive a ski hard. It’s ideal for all-mountain skiers who prioritize carving and prefer a wider platform.

Highlights:

Volkl’s 3D Radius sidecut provides the Mantra 102 with three distinct turn radii depending on the section of the ski being engaged, with specific sidecuts in the tip, underfoot area, and tail. The Tailored Titanal Frame features a full sheet of titanal beneath the core and a segmented frame above, offering tailored flex for exceptional edge grip and some forgiveness for a more intuitive ride. The Tailored Carbon Tips use hand-laid carbon stringers to enhance torsional stiffness, improving turn initiation and precision. Finally, Volkl’s Multilayer Wood Core, composed of poplar and beech stringers, supplies targeted energy and stiffness where needed. With a low stand height of just 17 millimeters, the 2027 Tyrolia Attack 14 offers an impressively close connection to the snow, delivering precise power transmission and a confident, locked-in feel. The FR Pro3 toe piece allows for a full 180 degrees of boot release, enhancing safety in a variety of fall scenarios, while the AFS (Anti-Friction Slider) ensures reliable re-centering and consistent release characteristics. Built to withstand hard use, the Attack 14 combines durability with performance, making it a go-to option for aggressive skiers who demand trust in their gear.

Things to consider:

The Mantra 102 is a robust ski that may be challenging to control for those with a more relaxed skiing style. Its lack of taper and minimal tip and tail rocker require more user input for performance in deep snow compared to other skis in this category. The 102 is primarily geared towards skiers seeking high-end carving performance with the versatility of a wider platform.

Fit & sizing considerations:

These skis are true to size. For more snap or enhanced mobility, consider sizing down in length.
