DESCRIPTION

The 2026 Line Sakana with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings continues to defy convention and expectations, delivering a wild mix of float, carving power, and expressive terrain performance. Its swallowtail design and mid-fat profile make it look like a powder surfer—but this ski rails groomers like nothing else in its class. We paired the Sakana with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.

Why we like it:

It’s not just different for the sake of being different—the Sakana brings real-world performance to a totally unique shape, blending surf and carve like no other ski we’ve tested.

Who it's for:

Advanced to expert skiers with an eye for style and a flair for the unconventional. If you like painting turns and finding creative lines rather than following the crowd, the Sakana will speak your language.

Highlights:

At 105 mm underfoot and with a slalom-like 15-meter radius, the Sakana blends powder-day float with groomer-ready agility. A 150 mm tip gives it huge surface area up front, while the swallow tail adds both aesthetic flair and function, helping it smear, release, and hold edge like few skis can. Built with a Paulownia and Aspen core and reinforced with Carbon Flax Tape, it’s lightweight, responsive, and surprisingly stable. A touch of metal in the tail boosts power and exit control, rounding out a ski that’s full of surprises. The Attack 14 GW’s FR PRO3 Toe contains 30 mm of elastic travel which provides a smooth and confidence inspiring feel when tracking though variable snow while also recentering the boot to its neutral position extremely well to keep you locked in, acting almost like a suspension system. NX FR Heel pieces have 16 mm of elastic travel which assists in prevent false-releases. These heel pieces also make stepping into and out of bindings with ease, even in deep snow.

Things to consider:

The Sakana doesn’t slot neatly into any traditional category—it’s a ski for feeling and flow. If you prefer max-speed stability or true twin-tip freestyle versatility, this probably isn’t your ride. But for those who want to carve deep and slash powder with a grin, it’s unbeatable.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis true to size. Its short turning radius and wide tip make it feel maneuverable—most skiers should stick with their usual length.
