Ski needed more work to initiate a turn. Less grippy than others that I tested.

All mountain and light powder.

Good ski for an intermediate that can initiate turns well. Was good in crud but lots off chatter.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

I felt that this ski was a great groomer/carving ski that could probably ski most conditions well.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

I would use this ski for trail skiing, it's not wide enough to be a powder ski, but could probably handle most conditions well.

What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?

This ski would be a little to stiff for a true beginner, but perfect for any other ability level. It seems like a good all terrain ski with decent edge control. It held well at all speeds.

Would describe myself as a freecarver (Freeride skier at heart with a love for carving). Any excuse to go drops, cliffs, jumps, spins, etc., I will take. But also very much enjoy pure carving on skis that many would consider far too wide to carve on.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

Very easy to get along with all-mountain skis, nothing surprising or amazing about them. They strangely have a soft snow feel to them, like they really shine in the bumps and crud because of their tip shape. They aren't the strongest or smoothest thing out there but that means that they aren't super demanding throughout the day. I did find that the outside skis wanted to wander in a carved turn at some points but nothing crazy.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

Groomers, bumps, and light crud.

What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?

Intermediate to advanced. I think expert carvers will be left with some things left to be desired.

I think it needs to have less taper and tip rocker for more precision as well as a slightly stiffer build.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

The Maverick 88 CTI is a great ski for those looking for an all-mountain ski with soft snow tendencies. It's very well rounded, and while there are similar skis out there, it also kind of feels like it sits on its own in its category. Better soft snow performance than most skis in this width range with metal, yet it's stronger than most skis in this range that also excel off trail. It can kind of get lost in the sea of options, but it's really good, and especially good for those who like to seek out soft snow and adventure. It just doesn't pull you into a turn because of the tip shape and HRZN Tech, so don't expect particularly dynamic turn entry, but that's just on groomers. It still rips carves, just requires more skier input than some.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

It's a true all-mountain ski in the sense you can ski it just about anywhere. It's probably the best ski or one of the best skis in soft snow under 90 mm underfoot. That means you get quick, agile performance for groomers, bumps, and trees, but it can handle some deeper snow too. A nice option for a lot of North East skiers for sure. If you want a little more float, just bump up to the 96, which has very similar properties.

What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?

It's one of those skis that technically an intermediate could ski and do just fine because there's quite a bit of forgiveness from the rocker and taper shape, but realistically it's best for an advanced or expert level skier.

It feels like these skis often get overlooked in their category, which is a bummer because they're great. You see a lot more Ripsticks, or at least I see a lot more Ripsticks, but this is pretty similar, just a little stronger.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

This ski liked to go fast. It was plenty damp and did not feel chattery. Stable at speed. Nimble and quick. The tip felt forgiving, the tail less so.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

This ski was great on groomed trails. Really fun. It would be okay in fresh or soft snow as well, but shined on groomers.

What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?

This is a ski for intermediate skiers and above. It would not behoove a beginner as it is not as forgiving as they might need. Its stiff tail wants you to be driving the ski, not riding the ski. Certainly advanced skiers and above would find it enjoyable in the rights size and conditions.

Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?

I spent a lot of time skiing skis as fast as possible this day, the Maverick held up with the best of them. I was impressed by it.
