DESCRIPTION

The 2027 Blizzard Canvas 108 with [binding full name] represents a creative departure from Blizzard's traditional lineup, born from a vision of freedom and self-expression on the mountain. A wide waist and playful twin-tip profile invite you to explore every zone of the mountain with spontaneity and flair. [binding KD overview]

Why we like it:

More than just a ski, the Canvas feels alive underfoot, rewarding playful intentions with intuitive pivoting and lively response while still maintaining confidence through varied terrain.

Who it's for:

This is a ski for experienced riders who value creativity over conformity, skiers who want a tool that turns every run into a personal statement, from natural features to soft snow and technical lines.

Highlights:

A minimal titanal strip runs full length, not for brute stiffness but to keep the camber lively and consistent, which is what gives this mid-fat freeride shape its springy, energetic feel. Blizzard built the ski around a light poplar and paulownia wood core with progressive rocker in the tip and tail that encourages butters, spins, and playful arcs through soft snow, all sitting on a 108 mm waist. The artist-designed topsheet reflects the ski's ethos as a creative brush for your line on the mountain. [binding highlights]

Things to consider:

Because the Canvas leans into playfulness with a softer flex and freeride-centric rocker, heavier or more aggressive skiers seeking hard-charging crud-crushers might prefer a stiffer, more directional option.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Progressive rocker at both ends shortens the running length, so most skiers will be comfortable at their usual freeride number, with a shorter choice favoring the butters and spins this ski is tuned for.

Stowe, about 8 inches of fresh snow and a variety of fun terrain.
Did this length feel short, long, or just right? Would you recommend sizing up or down, or does it ski "true to size?" Would you choose this length for yourself?
I find they ski true to size. I could go 186, but the 180 is super fun at Stowe.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
Goodness gracious me. I absolutely LOVE the new Canvas 108. Just so much fun. It strikes such a nice balance for me between playfulness and stability. Some skiers will find it too light, probably, but I love how easy it is to flick around and still think it has a decent amount of strength underfoot. Love the shape. Cuts through snow so easily, yet still has a ton of float for being 108 underfoot. I've definitely found my new favorite powder ski, and it's even fun to ski on lower snow days too. I had some early season days on it just because I wanted to give it a try and it's surprisingly fun on firmer snow conditions. Dare I say the best overall out of the new Canvas line, but I do like the others too.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
It's definitely best in soft snow and loves to find playful, bouncy terrain with natural hits and other fun features. It doesn't beg to be skied switch, but if an opportunity presents itself to takeoff or land switch, the ski is happy to do it. Just so fun!
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
It's a bit much for an intermediate just because of its size, but advanced and expert skiers with playful styles will absolutely love it. There's still probably a bigger group of skiers who would prefer something like a Rustler 10 if you skied them back to back, but the Canvas captures the freestyle influence and flare nicely, while still being a very capable freeride ski.
Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?
Sometimes a ski comes along that makes me wish I didn't have to spend so much time testing skis. I kind of wish I could just ski a Canvas 108 all the time...
