DESCRIPTION

The Blizzard Stormbird 80 Ti is a frontside-leaning ski for intermediate skiers who've outgrown their first ski and are ready for something with more bite. Titanal reinforcement under the binding and Blizzard's Trueblend Piste wood core give this ski a precise, planted feel on groomers that lighter intermediate skis can't match. It's not the lightest or most forgiving setup out there, but for the skier who's working on real carved turns and wants a ski that rewards good technique, the Stormbird 80 Ti delivers. The TP11 Light binding comes mounted and ready to ride.

Surprisingly versatile for a frontside carving ski, the Blizzard Stormbird 80TI was a great pick for ripping groomers while still being able to adventure into a bit of fresh snow without feeling squirrelly.

Hard charging, but with lots of little breaks. I mostly chase where the snow is good and skiing is fun rather than particular terrain, although I do love a technical line. I am almost never in the park and would never touch a race course.

Size Tested:
170 CM
Location, Terrain, Snow Conditions Notes
I skied Gondolier with 1 inch of creamy dense on top of sheer ice, and Perry Merrill with a perfectly fresh, if firm, groom.
Did this length feel short, long, or just right? Would you recommend sizing up or down, or does it ski "true to size?" Would you choose this length for yourself?
It felt true to size, 170 was a tiny bit short but 175 would’ve been too long.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
Surprisingly versatile for a frontside carving ski, the Blizzard Stormbird 80TI was a great pick for ripping groomers while still being able to adventure into a bit of fresh snow without feeling squirrelly.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
I'd recommend this ski for groomed trails without a ton of sheer ice, but they can handle up to a few inches of fresh without getting overwhelmed.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
This was a surprisingly approachable ski for a ski in its category, so I think most skiers of an advanced ability level could handle and enjoy it. Experts looking for a truly aggressive carver may prefer something with a bit more edge hold on ice.
Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?
If you’re going to take a carving ski into the woods, that’s never a good idea but this is a good bit more capable than most others of handling variability.
