2027 DPS Pisteworks 89 Skis
SKU SPX89The 2027 DPS Pisteworks 89 slots between the carve-focused 79 and the more all-mountain leaning 94. It takes the same full-carbon construction and Carbon Power Plate as its siblings and pairs them with a more playful shape, with looser tip and tail taper and more rocker for a frontside ski that's not afraid to slarve.
Why we like it:
The 89 hits a really nice middle spot in the lineup. The Pisteworks 94 wants to make some bigger turns and the 79 wants to lay down precise carves, while the 89 feels equally happy doing either. It can rip a clean arc when you stand it on edge, but it'll also break loose at the tail when you want to play.
Who it's for:
Advanced and expert frontside skiers who want a carving-focused ski with a creative, playful side. Great for skiers who spend most of their time on groomers but want something that won't feel locked in when they ease off the gas.
Highlights:
Like the rest of the Pisteworks line, the 89 uses full carbon laminates wrapped around a Patented Dual Layer Wood Core (poplar for liveliness, red oak for damping and grip), with a Carbon Power Plate underfoot for direct energy transfer. The shape is where things get interesting on this ski: more tip and tail taper than the 79, plus more rocker, gives the ski a looser, more freeride-influenced personality. It's still torsionally stiff enough to hold an edge in a high-G turn, but the ski is much more willing to release into a slarve or slash when you ask it to. Rockwell 48 steel edges and a World Cup Race Base with factory Phantom Glide treatment finish the build.
Things to consider:
The wider waist and more rocker mean this ski isn't going to feel as electric edge-to-edge as the 79. If pure carving is what you want, the narrower option is the more focused choice.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Skis true to size. Pick the length that matches your usual frontside length, or size down a touch if you want quicker handling.
