2027 Elan Ripstick 102 Black Edition Skis
SKU ADBMMR26The Ripstick 102 Black Edition takes the Carbon Deck platform and turns it up a notch, adding the Quadrod system and C-Ply carbon frame reinforcement for skiers who want a more powerful, more composed feel without losing the lightweight identity that defines the Ripstick line. It's a true one-ski-quiver freeride ski with the muscle to back up bigger ambitions.
Why we like it:
The added carbon really does change the character. You get that Ripstick energy and lightweight feel, but with noticeably more authority underfoot. It's the kind of upgrade that you feel right away; the ski is steadier at speed and more locked in through the turn without ever feeling heavy.
Who it's for:
Advanced and expert freeride skiers who want a single ski for everything from storm days to firm-snow groomer laps and prefer a ski with extra power and damping for charging hard.
Highlights:
The Black Edition treatment is built on top of the standard Carbon Deck construction, and the additions matter. The Quadrod system runs four carbon rods through the ski instead of two, which significantly increases torsional stability and edge control. C-Ply carbon frame reinforcement adds strategically placed carbon where it makes the biggest structural difference, giving the ski a stronger backbone without piling on weight. The Tubelite woodcore stays at the foundation, which keeps the ski from feeling sluggish or inert despite the added structure, and Flax fibre still handles a lot of the vibration damping. SST slanted sidewalls direct power to the edge, the Amphibio profile makes turn initiation easy and edge hold strong, and the Sintered Race Structured base is genuinely fast for a wider ski. The whole build is aimed at skiers who want to push the limits a bit harder than the standard Ripstick allows.
Things to consider:
This is more demanding than the standard Ripstick 102, so skiers looking for an easygoing all-mountain ride may be better served by the non-Black-Edition version. It's also still a non-metal build, so very heavy or aggressive skiers chasing the absolute ceiling of damping may want to look at a more metal-heavy ski.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Skis true to size. Aggressive skiers and those skiing in bigger terrain can size up; skiers prioritizing nimbleness can size down.
