DESCRIPTION

The Ripstick 88 is the frontside-leaning member of the Ripstick family, designed for skiers who spend most of their time on groomers but still want a ski that can handle the occasional foray off the marked runs. The Carbon Deck build gives it the same lightweight, energetic feel that defines the rest of the line, just in a narrower, more carving-oriented shape.

Why we like it:

At 88 underfoot the carbon rods and UD carbon edge bands really come through; this ski has a remarkably crisp, energetic feel on edge that you don't always get from a non-metal ski at this width. It's eager to turn, and the rebound out of each arc is genuinely fun.

Who it's for:

Intermediate through advanced skiers who spend most of their time at the resort and want a versatile ski with a frontside bias. A solid choice for skiers progressing toward expert who want a ski that rewards good technique without punishing the occasional mistake.

Highlights:

Carbon Deck Technology is the build across the Ripstick line, and at 88 underfoot it produces a ski that feels notably energetic for its category. The Tubelite woodcore keeps the swing weight low, which makes the ski quick edge to edge and easy to handle in tight terrain. Carbon rods and UD carbon edge bands add the structural backbone that gives the ski its precision and pop, and the Flax fibre layer smooths things out without adding mass. The Amphibio profile is the real star at this width: rocker on the outside edge means the ski initiates turns easily, while camber on the inside edge means it grips when you commit. SST slanted sidewalls put power directly to the edge for a clean, connected feel, and the sintered base keeps things fast on groomers. It's a ski that feels both forgiving and capable, which is a hard balance to strike at any width.

Things to consider:

At 88 underfoot, soft-snow performance is limited compared to the wider Ripsticks. The non-metal build is a strength for most skiers, but if you're after the ultimate in damping and high-speed hold on hardpack, the Ripstick 88 Black Edition with its added carbon reinforcement is worth a look.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis true to size. Most skiers will land at their normal length; size up for more stability at speed, size down for quicker, shorter turns.
