2027 Kastle Legend 1968 Wedler Skis
SKU AL6825Hand-built craftsmanship anchors the Kastle Legend 1968 Wedler, a frontside carver from Kastle's Legendary Collection. The lightweight karuba wood core, two layers of titanal, and unique Double Steel Edge integrated into the topsheet add up to a ski that's surprisingly snappy for its heritage looks and built to last a long time.
Why we like it:
The Double Steel Edge is the one-of-a-kind detail. Kastle integrates a second steel edge into the topsheet itself, which protects the upper edge from impacts and chipping and contributes to the ski's exceptional durability. It's also part of why these skis look so beautifully finished.
Who it's for:
Athletic on-trail skiers who appreciate craftsmanship and want a high-performance frontside ski with genuine collector appeal. Best for advanced and expert skiers who'll actually use the ski rather than display it.
Highlights:
This ski is built in Hohenems, Austria, where Kastle's heritage workshop hand-presses 30 individual parts per ski. The construction tells the story of why it's worth the effort. A Karuba Woodcore keeps the ski light and responsive while delivering the kind of pop that frontside skiing demands. Two sheets of Titanal sandwich the core for damping and edge grip, and the Full Race Sidewall transmits power directly through to the edge with minimal loss. Hollowtech 2.0 Carbon is the visible signature in the shovel, doing both visual duty as a topsheet feature and technical duty as a weight-reduction technology. The Double Steel Edge integrated into the topsheet is unique in skiing and adds real durability to the topsheet area that normally takes the most abuse. Fast Grip Shovel & Tail tuning rounds out the shape. With a 13.8-meter radius at the 171cm length and a 70mm waist, this is a true short-turn frontside carver in the spirit of the original Wedler. It rolls edge-to-edge with a quickness that matches its vintage racing inspiration.
Things to consider:
This is a narrow, full-camber frontside ski; not a versatile all-mountain tool. Soft snow and off-trail terrain aren't its strengths. The hand-built construction also means limited availability, so commit if you find one in your size.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Standard sizing applies. Pick your usual length for this style of carving ski. Skiers who want shorter, snappier turns can drop a length without losing much.
