DESCRIPTION

The 2027 Nordica Unleashed 106 with [binding full name] is the metal-enhanced version of the Unleashed line, offering more stability and grip for skiers pushing harder through variable terrain. It balances playful freeride shaping with the power to charge. [binding KD overview]

Why we like it:

It brings together surfy agility with just enough metal for security when you are skiing fast and firm conditions.

Who it's for:

Advanced to expert freeride skiers who want to float in powder but still rail when needed.

Highlights:

A titanal insert placed via Drift Lock Technology is what separates this one, delivering a dampened feel without costing the ski its quick, creative energy. Freeride Flow Shape sets the outline, tuning tip and tail rise to a 106 mm waist, and the Lite Performance Wood Core adds responsiveness so the ski feels light but stable underfoot. [binding highlights]

Things to consider:

Skiers seeking a pure surfy, buttery ride may find the added metal more demanding in tight terrain.

Fit & sizing considerations:

A balanced flex profile means the stated number is the right call, though directional stability in deeper snow is a fair reason to move up.

For 106 underfoot, it's quite versatile. Deep snow, trees, bowls, chutes, couloirs, whatever you want is in play.

Stowe, a mix of groomers and soft snow. Some deep spots, some wind-scoured, a nice assortment of conditions.
Did this length feel short, long, or just right? Would you recommend sizing up or down, or does it ski "true to size?" Would you choose this length for yourself?
I think it skis true to size for this category. The old Unleashed 108, if anything, skied a bit long.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
This thing moves! This really feels like a modern freeride ski. There's not so much metal that it feels heavy and clunky, or too tiring, but enough metal that it feels overly fatiguing. It feels like a nice progression from the old Enforcer 110 and Enforcer 104 Free. It's different, it's quicker, but it feels like it checks a lot of the same boxes and accomplishes similar things. Personally I wish it was just ever so slightly more of a twin tip, but I think I'm in the minority on that one.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
For 106 underfoot, it's quite versatile. Deep snow, trees, bowls, chutes, couloirs, whatever you want is in play. Then you can let it run through choppy snow and the ski stays composed, and you can actually make some rewarding turns on a groomer too.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
It does feel like an advanced/expert only ski. If anything, almost an expert only ski, but I think an athletic advanced skier would do just fine. The existence of the Unleashed 106 CA just pushes it more towards expert, IMO. I do think a lot of skiers would prefer the CA version.
Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?
I still reminisce about the Enforcer 104 Free, but this is a great ski and I think Nordica did a good job here speaking to that customer.
