Adult construction in a softer, friendlier package is what you get with the Rossignol Alias. It's a true twin with blunted tips for extra room in a butter, and a profile that lifts the nose and tail clear of the snow while keeping a touch of camber between the bindings for grip and stability. A full-length wood core keeps the pop alive as the rider gets stronger. Young riders with more skill than size get a board to grow into rather than out of. [binding KD overview] [boot PKG overview]
Who it's for:
Younger riders, roughly the ten to fifteen bracket, at a beginner to intermediate level who want a freestyle board they can grow into. It suits kids starting to ride switch and try their first features, and the forgiving profile keeps the falls down while they do it.
Things to consider:
The soft flex that makes this board easy also caps how hard it can be pushed, so a heavier or more aggressive young rider will outgrow it and want something with more camber and backbone. An extruded base is fine for the terrain this board sees, though it does want waxing to keep its speed.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Fit the board to the child rather than to a chart built for adults, using height and weight together. Going short makes spins and presses easier while the rider is light, and going long buys a season of growth at the cost of some maneuverability now, which is a reasonable trade for a fast-growing kid.
