Frontside skiers who like to mix it up will feel right at home on the Salomon Addikt. This is the all-around model in Salomon's redesigned Addikt carving line, sitting wider than the dedicated narrow-waist Pro 66 and 76 versions. A poplar wood core, double titanal, and Salomon's Motion Tail polymer inserts pair with a moderately tapered shape and recycled ABS sidewalls for a ski that rolls on edge with race-bred energy but releases the turn more easily than a pure carver.

Why we like it:

Motion Tail is the detail that elevates the whole line. Salomon fuses flexible polymer pads into the titanal in the tail, which softens the release without giving up the rebound you want from a metal-laminate carver. It makes the Addikt forgiving in a way that double-titanal skis usually aren't.

Who it's for:

Advanced and advancing intermediate skiers who spend most of their time on the frontside but want a ski that does more than carve perfect arcs. Especially well suited to skiers who want a metal-laminate ski with energy and rebound but without the punishing flex of a full-on race ski.

Highlights:

The construction is what makes the Addikt feel like a step up from a typical sport-performance carver. Salomon builds it on a poplar woodcore with two layers of titanal, then layers in their Motion Tail technology — flexible polymer pads embedded in the titanal that boost tail flexibility by about 5% for a more forgiving release. The 100% recycled ABS sidewalls extend the full perimeter of the ski and use an internal process that reclaims factory ABS waste without compromising stability or edge support. Underfoot is the new MI12 GW binding on the Easytrak system, which keeps the ski flexing naturally while transmitting power cleanly. The shape is the most all-around in the Addikt line: a 72 mm waist with a 14 m turn radius at the 170 makes for crisp short turns with enough room to lengthen out when conditions open up.

Things to consider:

The Addikt is built for the frontside. Even with its slightly more all-around shape, the narrow waist and full-camber profile make it a poor pick for soft snow or off-trail terrain. Skiers who want a tighter slalom feel can look at the Addikt Pro 66, while the Pro 76 is the more directional carver in the line.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Stick with what you usually ride on a frontside ski. Drop a length for quicker, snappier turns or stay at your usual length for more stability through long carves.
