DESCRIPTION

The 2027 Stockli Montero AR Pro with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings answers strong skiers who felt the standard AR left something on the table, a premium all-mountain carver built for power and high-speed precision. It shares the AR's all-mountain footprint but adds a Titanal Titec surface, stiffer sidewalls, and a thicker base for a noticeably more demanding, race-like ride. What comes back is miraculous edge grip and rock-solid stability for skiers who like to bring a ski up to speed and keep it there. We paired the Montero AR Pro with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.

Why we like it:

The Titanal Titec surface is the first thing you notice, and it backs up its premium look with real performance. We also like how honest this ski is about who it is for; stiffer sidewalls and a thicker base give it a serious, race-bred feel that aggressive skiers will appreciate immediately.

Who it's for:

Expert skiers, especially those with a racing background, who want maximum power and edge grip from an all-mountain carver. Built for strong, aggressive skiers who ski fast and want something that operates at its best when driven hard.

Highlights:

Montero DNA with the intensity turned up is the shortest description. A high-quality Titec Titanal surface tops the ski for premium looks and added performance, while stiffer sidewalls and a thicker base hand it considerably more horsepower than the standard AR. The familiar light poplar and beech wood core sits underneath an 84 mm waist, but the ride is far more demanding, and this ski wants to be brought up to speed before it shows its best. Race Base shaping delivers precise power transmission and fast glide, and Racing Sidewalls Black complete a package tuned for fast, aggressive carving. With a low stand height of just 17 millimeters, the 2027 Tyrolia Attack 14 offers an impressively close connection to the snow, delivering precise power transmission and a confident, locked-in feel. The FR Pro3 toe piece allows for a full 180 degrees of boot release, enhancing safety in a variety of fall scenarios, while the AFS (Anti-Friction Slider) ensures reliable re-centering and consistent release characteristics. Built to withstand hard use, the Attack 14 combines durability with performance, making it a go-to option for aggressive skiers who demand trust in their gear.

Things to consider:

Low-speed compliance is not part of the AR Pro's vocabulary the way it is elsewhere in the Montero line; this one asks to be skied hard and fast before it comes alive. Skiers who want an easier, more forgiving all-mountain ride will be better served by the standard Montero AR.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Ride your usual length, sizing down only if you want a slightly more manageable feel, or sizing up for the most stability at speed.

Did this length feel short, long, or just right? Would you recommend sizing up or down, or does it ski "true to size?" Would you choose this length for yourself?
Skis true to size. This was a great length for me.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
Wow. Just wow. The new Montero AR Pro is the real deal. Do you need it? That's a different story. This thing absolutely rips, but it's quite stiff, so it takes some speed to come alive and it takes a strong, skilled skier to really make it sing. I actually think the Montero AR (non-Pro) is a better match for me personally. A bigger skier or someone with a more formal race background would probably go the other direction, or if you just prefer really stiff skis. The thing is a missile.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
Definitely best on groomers. While I have no problem taking the normal Montero AR off trail from time to time, the Pro version is more demanding, so will be that much more challenging in bumps, trees, soft snow, etc.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
It's truly an expert level all-mountain carver. I use the word all-mountain mostly in reference to its width, as like I said, I think it's best on trail, but its width places it in the all-mountain category for sure.
Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?
It's really fun to ski as fast as you can without worrying whether your skis can handle it, but skiing that fast all the time is also kinda tiring. The non-Pro still feels good at slower speeds, while the Pro just wants to go.
