Deep snow and big descents are what the Stockli Stormrider 108 was built for, the widest and most freeride-focused ski Stockli has made in years. Developed with freeride pro Maxime Chabloz, it pairs a heavily rockered, tapered shape with a poplar, beech, and paulownia wood core and a double titanal layup. Skiers get serious float, a surprisingly playful feel, and the stability to stay on line when the run gets rough.

Why we like it:

The combination of a big rockered shape and a turn-friendly radius is what makes this ski special. It floats and surfs like a dedicated powder ski but still wants to come around in a tight, controllable arc, which is rare in something this wide. Having a Freeride World Tour champion in the design room clearly paid off.

Who it's for:

Advanced and expert skiers who chase storm days and big-mountain terrain. Built for skiers who want a dedicated soft-snow ski for high drops, deep turns, and demanding off-trail lines rather than a daily groomer driver.

Highlights:

The Big Powder Rocker and Freeride Tail are the stars, working together to deliver massive lift in deep snow and a loose, playful feel when you want to slash and surf. Underneath, a poplar, beech, and paulownia wood core keeps weight in check, while the double titanal construction, including the Titec Pro topsheet, holds everything stable and tracking true through chop and crud. A fiberglass-reinforced pre-preg layup adds to the ski's lively, approachable character, so it never feels like a plank despite the metal. Polywall sidewalls bring durability and impact resistance, and Solid Metal Edge Light edges finish a build that is genuinely freeride-focused but more versatile than its width suggests.

Things to consider:

At its width, the Stormrider 108 is a soft-snow specialist. It will not be the ski you reach for on firm groomers or hardpack days, and skiers who want a narrower all-around option will find better daily tools in the narrower Stormriders.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Stormrider 108 skis a touch shorter than its stated length thanks to the deep rocker. Most skiers can pick their usual length, or bump up a length for even more flotation and stability in big open terrain.
