The 2021 Head Supershape e-Rally loves to be on edge. These things are font-side carvers with a sports car mentality. More than that, they even have some race car technology built in. New for 2021, is the updated energy management system, the EMC circuit. This replaces the KERS system that kept out unwanted vibrations over the past few seasons. Mainly found in Formula 1 race cars, this system stores kinetic energy during the carve and releases it on the back end of the turn, minimizing bad vibrations and keeping the skis on the straight and narrow. It's a cool system for maintaining the proper line and turn shape, and it works, so for skiers who like a bit of tech in their gear, this is a great place to start. At 78 mm underfoot, the skis are on the narrow side, but the wide shovel and tail make it ski with more stability and confidence. While they're more focused on front-side carving, the e-Rally does have a bit of versatility for softer snow, but mainly when that snow comes in a flatter format.

Starting with a wood core, Head adds a titanal laminate as well as a Graphene layer to really boost performance and stiffness. The Graphene has an incredibly high strength to weight ratio, allowing the ski to maintain its light weight feel with all the stiffness and precision of a more race-oriented ski. While most skiers who hop on this thing will have some sort of race background, they're actually quite well-rounded in terms of skier type. Not terribly demanding thanks in part to the 78 mm waist, the skis don't quite require the same balance and timing of narrower skis of this ilk, and this increases the number of potential users of the skis. When that strong core is combined with the Energy Management Circuit, Head has achieved a top-end of product that loves to carve clean, round turns on smooth and groomed terrain.
In terms of rocker and taper, there's not a whole lot going on here. No secret ingredients involved, anyway. With just a bit of tip rocker, the skis are built with a bit easier of an entry to the turn in mind. True 100% camber skis of this width can be a bit twitchy and choppy, so the slight rocker in the tip helps the skier engage and initiate the turn with more success. Additionally, transitions between turns get smoother and more approachable for more skiers. There's really zero taper to these skis, they have true tip to tail contact, and this leads to smooth turns all over the hill. The longer the effective edge, the smoother the turns, so if carving clean, round turns is something you love to do, these do it better than most.
Advanced and expert skiers, along with former racers, will love the high-end performance of the Head Supershape e-Rally skis. This system is set up for pure carving pleasure, and with a bit of width underfoot, they have a nicer and friendlier balance point that's going to appeal to a broader range of skiers. With a vast amount of technology, from the EMC to the Graphene, the e-Rally is poised to pick up where the I-Rally left off-at the top of the on-piste carving game.
