Maxx Connelly and Eric Mcdonough both tested the 152 in length and found it to be true to size. Each with their own impressions, the Dancehaul received a mix of scores ranging between 2 and 4. For Max, flotation and torsional stiffness received 3s while forgiveness and versatility were on the lower end of the spectrum deserving a 2. Despite that, Max “really enjoyed this directional board. It was fast and carved hard. Great board for hard groomers, probably powder and tight trees too. I’d recommend it for advanced riders as an option in the quiver. Pull this board out when you’re feeling spicy.” A 4 for overall impression, playfulness, quickness, and stability, it’s clear that while it lacks in certain areas, its strengths lie in the Dancehaul’s capabilities as an energetic and responsive all-mountain tackler. Looking at Eric’s experience, we see similar scores in flotation, stability, and forgiveness, showing consistency across two different riders. Where his scores differ from Maxx’s, quickness, playfulness and torsional stiffness earned a slightly lower score. He thought that it “did a great job plowing through the crud, not the quickest edge to edge but very stable at speed. Carved well on the harder packed areas. Better for more advanced riders.” Perhaps his takeaways reflect the fact that a more advanced rider would find the Dancehaul more maneuverable and playful.
It turns out that all of our testers rode the 152 in length but for the sake of variance, David Marryat found that the board is designed to be down sized and that it felt appropriate when doing so. With quite the difference in scores, David highlighted strengths in flotation, quickness, versatility and overall impression with a 5/5. He noted “Salomon named this board perfectly! An awesome deck for the experienced rider who likes to haul around the mountain, hitting all the terrain, and dancing through technical lines. Equally at home in powdery bumped trees as it is on-trail, side hits and fast groomers. Quiver killer for sure.” No wonder it earned such high scores in those categories! David is just that-an experienced rider with the skillset to hit any and all features and terrain. That said, he did find that the board lacked in forgiveness, earning a 3, which again speaks to its targeted clientele or more advanced riders. With 4’s for stability, playfulness, and torsional stiffness, the overall range of scores portrays a highly positive review of the Dancehaul.
For experienced riders with a knack for all-mountain domination, the Salomon Dancehaul will be your prized possession. Willing and ready to tackle anything from trees and groomers to powdery side hits, its versatility shines through amidst any outing. Built for maneuverability and stability, riders will love the range of capabilities and have a blast on the hill.
