When it comes to the goldilocks of hybrid touring skis, the Faction Agent 2X is a top contender. Returning unchanged for the 2025 season, skiers looking for a lightweight set up that can hold its own at the resort will find that this ski checks all the boxes. Not too narrow and not too wide, this mid-width ski is ideal for seeking soft conditions while being able to confidently tackle firmer hard pack. With an all-mountain profile, efficient build and ample versatility, it’s up to the skier how they want to put this highly capable tool to use. Whether you stick a highly technical touring binding or a more substantial resort binding on the Agent 2X, the range of options is what makes this ski so appealing.

Based off the footprint of the Faction Dancer series, the construction here is a lighter version, making it a lot more efficient. Featuring a lightweight Karuba wood core, the basis of this ski exudes a noticeable amount of energy, only to be boosted by the full carbon weave that is incorporated into the mix. This adds a nice amount of stiffness to the flex, as well as more liveliness, without affecting the weight of the ski. Weighing in at 1330 grams in the 163 cm length, it’s clear that the purpose of this ski is to be quick, maneuverable and highly efficient. To add power and stability, Faction incorporated XL 2.5 mm edges to give it a burlier feel, as well as full strength sidewalls for extra durability. While there may be narrower, lighter options for a dedicated touring ski, the Agent 2X combines a nice ratio of weight to strength, giving it the range of capabilities that make it such a nice versatile option for skiers who want some flexibility.

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Faction Agent 2x

The shape and profile have a lot to do with its multi-faceted nature, starting with the 96 mm waist width. This is an incredibly useful and ideal width for all-mountain purposes, especially when you add in the rest of the shape. The 96 mm waist width is bookended by a 127 mm tip width and 117 mm tail width, which is a great combination of dimensions for a variety of terrain and conditions. The wider shovel is paired with a decent amount of rocker, which provides a nice amount of flotation and smooth turn initiation. The tail shape leans further towards the touring world, with a flatter profile and slight rocker plus a skin attachment. The moderate amount of camber underfoot balances out the more freeride-oriented extremities, giving the Agent 2X a wonderful balance of attributes.

The Faction Agent 2X combines the ideal characteristics of a touring ski with a wider all-mountain ski, providing advanced level skiers a variety of options as far as applications. Make it your dedicated touring ski with a tech binding or throw an alpine binding on it and access lightweight, energetic performance in a variety of conditions. Leave it up to the skier and the Agent 2X will do the rest.
