The Head Power Joy returns unchanged for the 2025 season, proving its success as one of the grippiest skis out there. A narrow waist combined with a stiff flex and race-inspired build delivers excellent precision in a carving capacity, appealing to more advanced skiers who seek out the perfect turn. With a refined and high-powered build, of the Head Joy line, this ski takes the cake for packing the most punch, proving its strength on-piste. Delivering impeccable edge grip and stability at speed, the Power Joy is great for those looking to step up their carving game.

The burly build lends itself to the high level of performance that we get here. Starting with dense wood stringers and two sheets of metal, the strong and stable nature of this ski has much to do with the construction. Composed and powerful, the use of metal puts this ski in a different conversation, making it highly capable and precise. Where we see the race influence come into play is with the use of World Cup Sandwich Cap construction, technology used for the strongest skiers out there. Providing competitive power and strength, this construction element takes the performance to the next level. Rounding it out with two layers of fiberglass on the top and bottom of the ski, in addition to a graphene strip through the center, the flex pattern is through the roof as far as stiffness while the level of energy achievable in a carved turn is tough to top. Head’s Energy Management Circuit, combined with two dampening layers, take care of the unwanted vibrations and create a super smooth ride. We see this technology used in Head’s high-end skis and it does a phenomenal job keeping the skis planted to the snow. Tester Megan Papineau, who is an expert ex-racer, commented, “I imagine an older ski racer enjoying this ski. It’s narrow like we’re used to, and stiff.”

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Head e-Power Joy

The narrow 70 mm waist width puts this ski directly in the frontside category, as well as the advanced to expert arena. While less experienced skiers have the option of wider carving skis, this width is definitely narrow and makes for a tricky balance point. Not to mention, those who want to access the sweet spot of this ski should be doing so with high edge angles. Making shallower, flatter turns may feel grabby and catchy. In the 163 cm length, we’re getting a 15.3-meter turn radius, which is more mid-range than slalom-style. This is a result of the rounder, smoother shape, allowing it to make longer arcs and aiding in the friendly demeanor of the ski. That said, there’s no denying that this ski has an impressively high-performance ceiling. Though we do see slight versatility in the forebody of the ski, the midsection to tail is most certainly frontside focused.

Nice little carving ski.I imagine an older ski racer enjoying this ski. It’s narrow like we’re used to, and stiff. It’s otherwise not super fun or playful.
Megan Papineau

Advanced to expert skiers who are looking for precision, power, and strength in a race-inspired package should strongly consider the Head Power Joy. With high-performance features and construction elements, this ski is built for speed and precision.

Groomers, probably performs well on ice and maybe on unforgiving moguls as well
