For 2026, the K2 Mindbender 96 C W gets a graphics update but returns otherwise unchanged. Boasting versatility and energetic responsiveness amongst the Mindbender family, the K2 Mindbender 96C W delivers high performance in a lighter, more approachable build. With an all-mountain shape and freeride flair, K2 saw the success of this ski and carried the same recipe into the 2026 season. Fans of a stable yet playful feel for versatile performance will love the overall character of the 96C W, allowing a wide variety of ability levels to access its strengths. With a variety of width options in the Mindbender W line, the 96C meets in the middle of the 106C and 90C, offering enough width for soft snow conditions and a sturdy enough build for strong carving capabilities. Pure, playful all-mountain performance, there is a lot to love about these skis. They have a sturdy feel but with a floaty character.

K2 blends sophistication with simplicity in their construction. Built with an aspen wood core, we get things started with a nice mix of energy and strength. Not only that but Aspen wood has a nice, light weight to it while retaining plenty of power for high-performance skiing. As we see in the rest of the “C” series, K2 uses their Carbon Spectral braiding, which applies the qualities of carbon intentionally throughout the ski in a controlled manner. Through a process of lacing carbon stringers in a cross-hatched format, K2 adjusts the stiffness of the flex, with a lateral weave in the front of the ski and longitudinal in the back. As far as how this affects performance, the tip of the ski has an easier, more intuitive ability to hook into a turn while the tail feels directional and precise. It truly feels natural and predictable, giving a wider range of a skiers the chance to reap the benefits. Uni-directional flax fibers round out the construction, adding more stiffness to the ski. The weight is simply ideal, with the 166 cm length coming in at 1630 grams which is perfect for both agility and stability. Tester Annie MacDonald notes that it “Wasn’t super quick or playful but stable and stiff with a softer tip that was easy to initiate. Felt better when I was letting them run!”
The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2026 K2 Mindbender 96C WWith a nice blend of rocker and camber, these skis are versatile for soft and firmer snow. Looking at the shape, the 96 mm waist width is the sweet spot for versatility. Leaning slightly further into the soft snow-oriented department, it still performs well on-piste and in a carving capacity. With a long and low rise in both the tip and tail, we see a generous rocker profile in the shovel, contributing to its soft snow performance and level of flotation. Slight taper allows for easy turn initiation and exit, making them fun and agile in the bumps and trees. A long, smooth effective edge amplifies on-trail performance, allowing for wide, open turns as well. In the 166 cm length, we get a 14.1-meter turn radius, which is mid-range and versatile. Lauren Morton calls it a “Very approachable all mountain ski for advanced skiers. Fun for experts too.”
Versatility and ease of use are the two big stories here. The Mindbender 96 C W is truly capable of skiing it all and with a friendly, accessible nature, those who don’t want to give it their all but still seek a high-performance ceiling will love the well-rounded character. Nimble, fun-loving and energetic, the Mindbender 96 C W is highly appealing to just about everyone. Bonus points if you love the trees and bumps—this ski excels in those areas.
