The 2026 Liberty Scope 104 is a fun and wide-bodied twin that has a creative and floaty feel. For the most part, it’s the same ski as we got last year with a new graphic and a slightly stiffer flex. Overall, in terms of 105ish twins, we get added flexibility with a similar shape and profile, making this a more playful and creative ski for fun seekers and adventurers who are looking for the entirety of the all-mountain experience. When you first get on a Scope 104, the first thing you’ll notice is just how easily they enter a turn. After that, the mid-section of the ski feels surprisingly stiff. At the tail of the ski, we get right back to that creative and playful feel that we know and love from our dedicated freeride skis. You can easily add freestyle and backcountry jumps to that conversation, broadening the appeal of these skis.

We get a poplar wood core in this ski, and Liberty does a nice job at varying the thickness throughout the core This is a freeride ski with freeride intentions. They love to be used in playful and creative applications more than anything. Underfoot, the ski uses phenolic plates to boost the stiffness and grip. Phenol is used mainly in race ski sidewalls to increase the firm snow feel in the middle zones. When it’s used horizontally, it makes a big difference with the character of the ski. This is a good way of using race-like performance characteristics to boost the ski’s on-trail personality. They are light, though, using a lot of aspects in a thinner and more subdued manner. Jose Darias notes that “The ski strikes a good balance of playfulness and power that feels intuitive enough that just about anyone can get on the ski and have a good time right away. The lack of peak performance doesn’t speak to me personally, but it is a good intermediate ski.”

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2026 Liberty Scope 104

In terms of shape and profile, the Scope 104 still has a lot of tip and tail rocker paired with high camber underfoot. With the flexible nature of the build, the camber picks up the slack to produce the energy. Tester Pete Fox calls it “A winner, absolutely a blast. Stable, powerful, playful- all in one.” The twin tip makes a lot of sense for this ski as it allows for a more fun-loving and freestyle experience. With a round taper shape and a longer turn radius, this ski is smooth and mobile in tighter spaces and in softer snow.

A winner, absolutely a blast. Stable, powerful, playful- all in one

This Scope 104 is a unique ski with a very narrow set of qualities. As such, it’s going to be a specific tool for a job, allowing skiers to max out on their fun and creativity. This is a very accessible ski for intermediate and advanced skiers looking to get into the mid-100's freeride division. Thanks to Liberty’s long-standing tradition of making fun and freeride-oriented skis, this next iteration of skis makes a lot of sense. These skis are super-easy in the trees and fun in powder, whether you stay on the snow or venture into the air.

Thoughts
I feel like the ski can ride the whole mountain successfully and feel pretty happy throughout.
Hard to say, I think the best thing for this ski would be to lean harder in the direction of being more playful and feel more like a true twin tip.
Overal Impression
The first impression was positive but slightly underwhelming. The performance in the softening snow conditions was positive but I wasn’t surprised or blown away by any particular characteristic. The ski strikes a good balance of playfulness and power that feels intuitive enough that just about anyone can get on the ski and have a good time right away. The lack of peak performance doesn’t speak to me personally but it is a good intermediate ski.
