2027 Head Supershape E-Magnum

The 2027 Head Supershape e-Magnum is a sweet mid-radius carver for advanced and expert skiers who love the technical side of the sport. This ski returns unchanged for the 2027 season, so it provides all the same edge grip, consistency, and power as last year. These Supershape skis all have the same sturdy build but they do vary in width, turn shape, and overall ski style. The Magnum, at 72 mm underfoot, is more of an on-trail specialist with a short to mid-radius preference.

These skis are built with a World Cup Sandwich construction style with stringers of poplar and beech. This core is surrounded by two sheets of metal, a strip of graphene, and a layer of carbon over the binding zone. Head also uses their EMC damping system to further reduce chatter and vibrations, making this an extremely smooth ski. Tester Bob St.Pierre notes that “The Magnum is a very predictable, solid, and planted ski and it felt great on the firm snow that we had on test day. This ski rips easy carves and gets from edge to edge quite quickly. It's not a surprising or shocking ski, especially if you've been on other Supershape models. Due to the metal and stiffer core, on-piste performance is certainly the focus. This is a groomer only ski for the most part. I think there's a mogul component here, but only if skiers are used to having a stiff and somewhat race-like ski in the bumps. On a firm day, the Magnum is awesome. We see these skis on the feet of a lot of ski instructors, so there's a high technical component here as well.”

At 72 mm underfoot, this is one of the narrower Supershapes, but it still has a nice platform to stand on so you don’t feel like you’re on a full-on race ski. In the 170 cm length, these skis produce a 13.1-meter turn radius and it’s incredibly fun to get them on edge througout that arc. While they’re stable at speed and in longer turns, the preference is certainly for more of a technical feel and style. There is no taper here, nor any rocker. These skis are classically cambered and ready to rip. We get some good feedback from Brad Schauermann here who states that “These skis were very fun to lay over on edge. They really excel at higher speeds. They would make a great beer league ski. These were a fun carving ski.” There’s certainly a recreational race component here, as most citizen courses do have shorter sets that benefit a ski like this.

We see a lot of ski instructors, coaches, and technical skiers on the Magnum, and after skiing it on ice, it’s easy to see why. This ski does have more of an advanced and expert mentality to it that keeps it in more of a front side and specialized audience. There’s not a whole lot of versatility here to speak of, but that’s okay given how it excels in pure carving and edge control.
