2027 Nordica Dobermann Multipista 74 DC

For 2027, the Nordica Dobermann Multipista 74 DC gets a graphic refresh, and a slight name change to reflect the addition of an 80 mm width model but otherwise returns unchanged. This is a very unique product that allows skiers to have a race-like feel on groomers while adapting to changing terrain and softer snow throughout the day. While nobody’s really shopping for a 74 mm underfoot ski for softer snow conditions, it is nice to have a wider platform underfoot for stability and balance for when the groomers get skied out. While it’s not really fair or accurate to call this an Enforcer 74, that’s basically what we’re dealing with here. Now with a wider version, this 74 does feel more on-piste focused while still retaining an adventurous spirit.

We get a sophisticated and modern build with Nordica’s frontside offerings. Nordica’s Double Core technology has become ubiquitous in many of their skis, and the Multipista 74 is one of the beneficiaries. They take two thin horizontal laminates of beech and poplar wood and put two sheets of metal and a pulse core elastomer layer in between. By having almost four horizontal laminates, not to mention fiberglass, these skis generate a smooth and sturdy feel. On top of that, we get an FDT Race Plate Pro with a TPX 13 binding, bringing stability to the next level. As a result, this is a thick core profile with a stiff flex and a ton of responsiveness. Tester Kevin Ross calls it “my favorite skinny ski that i have ever skied. Having a freeride shaped tip and tail with a race ski middle makes this ski an absolute riot to rip around on hard snow days. I really like this ski.”

Most front side or on-piste skis have this round of a look to it. For measurements, we see a split of 120/74/98 mm in the 180 cm length creating a 16-meter turn radius. While this isn’t that crazy, the amount of rocker in the tips and tails brings the rarity to the ski. With traditional camber underfoot, Multipista 74 looks like a slightly less dramatic Enforcer from the sides. This allows for less hookiness in the tips and tails while the mid-foot zone is all there. Tester Rob Cunliffe notes that “This ski is so much fun! It was forgiving and fast, it was smooth and stable. I felt like it had a very even flex pattern which made it feel very predictable and intuitive, like it was an extension of my body. This was phenomenal on hard and fast snow that had been groomed the night before. Its tip is very forgiving and its tail rounded off to be rather forgiving as well, but it is still a stiff and fast ski. the rocker in the tip, uncharacteristic of a carving ski, allowed it to punch through chop and crud where it came up, and then the ski stayed stable and supple underfoot. Very fun and versatile.”

Pretty much everyone who got on this ski loved it. Normally when skiers are looking for skis in the mid-70's, they are not thinking about rocker all that much. They want a crisp tip to tail contact and a race-like feel. Multipista 74’s claims that you can get all the performance you want while having a more versatile shape are tough to live up to. From what we’ve seen, if any ski can do it, it’s the Multipista 74. We skied it in all sorts of terrain this year and can verify that it holds up very well to adversity, albeit in a more traditional nature and attitude.
