A ski that tends to get overlooked, its sophisticated build keeps the performance level high while the fun-loving personality keeps the mood light. Offering a huge range of skiers precision on groomers and agility in the bumps and trees, this ski is a highly useful tool for everyday enjoyment. Versatility is a huge talking point here. More poised and precise than most skis at this price range, intermediate to advanced level skiers will love the blend of all-mountain and frontside characteristics in the Stance W 84. Salomon uses a unique layered concept with these skis. With a sturdy and sophisticated build, the Stance W 84 gets underrated, with the assumption that it is limited performance-wise and intended for intermediate level skiers. A silent weapon to say the least, this ski offers much more and continues to climb the rankings. For construction, we get a blend of poplar and karuba in the wood core, providing exceptional energy and power. Boosting the level of strength, Salomon incorporates a single titanal sheet to the underfoot zone, and while it doesn’t extend through the tip and tail, it provides just the right amount of edge grip and stability. With carbon stringers in the forebody and tail of the ski, the energy and pop are through the roof. The blend of poplar and carbon in this ski make for a very reactive feel at a light weight, with the sturdier metal underfoot providing a nice level of dampness. Weighing in at 1360 grams in the 159, this is impressively light, making it feel maneuverable but plenty sturdy. Tester Megan Papineau states: “I would own this ski! Just so fun, playful and stable, can carve well but quick in the bumps too, all around awesome ski.” Of all the amazing Stance skis from Salomon, Megan notes that this is her favorite.

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2027 Salomon Stance W 84

We love the versatility and easy acces here in terms of shape. 84 mm underfoot is such a good place to be for a vast majority of the skiing population. Responsive as ever, the 13-meter turn radius in the 159 cm length makes for quick, snappy turns. At 84 mm underfoot, it is bookended by a 121 mm tip and 104 mm tail. Factor in the 15% tip rocker and 12% tail rocker and you get an ideal shape and profile for all-mountain performance. A positive camber underfoot helps skiers to engage their edges for longer and provides pre-loaded energy and built in pop. Despite the narrower waist width, this ski fits more into the all-mountain category and is perfect for skiers who aren’t ready to commit to a wider-bodied ski for off-piste terrain. Megan also states, “I think technically it’s an intermediate ski; I am an expert skier and this ski did not hold me back at all!” That’s true; we’ve seen it.

We’ve been fans of the Stance W 84 for a while now and that will not change this year. This is such a well-rounded ski and delivers amazing performance at a wonderful value. At the same time, the performance ceiling is still high enough to satisfy the needs of more aggressive skiers. A proven shape and refined build combine to deliver exceptional all-mountain and front-side performance. This Stance W 84 continues to impress a higher end clientele while also satisfying the needs of more introductory level skiers. With great value added in, these skis work great for a huge number of skiers.
