DESCRIPTION

Redesigned for 2025, the Elan Ripstick 108 with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings introduces a fresh shape and personality to the Ripstick line. Building on the legacy of the Ripstick 106, the 108 is designed for both resort and backcountry adventures, catering to those seeking big lines and soft snow. With its intuitive and maneuverable nature, this lightweight freeride ski is ready to tackle any challenge on the mountain. We paired the 108 with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.

Why we like it:

The Ripstick 108 stands out for its intuitive and forgiving feel, making it easy for skiers to adapt quickly. Its lightweight construction and Amphibio Rocker ensure that you can keep charging throughout the day with energy to spare.

Who it's for:

Intermediate to expert skiers will appreciate the Ripstick 108's responsiveness and agility across the mountain, particularly in soft snow conditions.

Highlights:

The Amphibio Rocker profile facilitates smooth transitions from edge to edge, while the Tubelite Woodcore, Carbon Rods, and UD Fiber laminates keep the ski nice and light. These materials work together to enhance stability while preserving reactivity, allowing for fresh legs run after run for longer days on the hill. The Attack 14 GW’s FR PRO3 Toe contains 30 mm of elastic travel which provides a smooth and confidence inspiring feel when tracking though variable snow while also recentering the boot to its neutral position extremely well to keep you locked in, acting almost like a suspension system. NX FR Heel pieces have 16 mm of elastic travel which assists in prevent false-releases. These heel pieces also make stepping into and out of bindings with ease, even in deep snow.

Things to consider:

The Ripstick 108 is relatively soft both longitudinally and torsionally, which may not be ideal for firm snow or heavier skiers. Extremely aggressive skiers might find it too forgiving and could benefit from exploring other more robust options in the ~110 mm underfoot freeride category.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Ripstick 108 skis true to size. However, heavier or more aggressive skiers may want to size up if they plan to tackle more open terrain at high speeds.

Good length for this ski. Only need to go longer is if I'm taking it out to big lines out west

Thoughts
Big lines, something with a lot of room to get it up to speed. The faster you go, the more you appreciate what this ski was made to do. That being said, slower speed in the spring bumps, it was manageable, but definitely not where the ski wants to be.
Hard to find anything I didn't like about this ski other than the mountain seemed too small. If I was somewhere like Jackson or Crested Butte or somewhere with big, steep lines, this would definitely be a ski I'd consider.
Overal Impression
One word: stability. This is a ski for going fast... really fast. Get it on edge and it won't let go. Speed limit? Nope, it's like a car that feels like you're doing 50, but you look down and it turns out you're doing 80.
