DESCRIPTION

An ski for 2027, the Kastle Paragon 93 is a directional all mountain freeride ski that blends on trail carving performance with off-trail mobility. A true high-performance resort ski, the 93 is certainly the most frontside focused of the Paragon skis but do not discount its ability to mix it up off-piste. Well-verse in a variety of conditions and terrain, the 93 is energetic, reactive, stable, and begging for constant turning.

Why we like it:

The Paragon 93’s versatility as an all-mountain ski is truly something special with intuitive and trustworthy carving performance and off-piste maneuverability, there is little left to desire from a ski this versatile.

Who it's for:

Advanced and expert skiers who ski all-mountain conditions and terrain and seek a carver that does not shy away from adventure off-piste.

Highlights:

Featuring Kastle’s InfiniCore Free technology which is composed of beech, poplar and paulownia stringers that make up the core of the ski. Specifically placed stringers of beech run the length of the ski in the central portion and a combination of poplar and paulownia running the lengths of the sides of the ski. This tailors the flex of the longitudinal and torsional flex of the ski to deliver superior carving performance and off-trail ease of use. A titanal laminate rests atop the core to provide vibration damping along with torsional stiffness for addition carving performance and edge grip. HollowTech 2.0 is used in the tips of the skis to lower the swing weight of the ski while also making them more agile and mobile in more technical terrain. Hook Free Shovel and Tail technology is accomplished through the relationship between tip and tail taper and the rocker profile to result in a catch free, pivoty feel, while still allowing for a locked in feel when on-piste.

Things to consider:

The Paragon 93 is a versatile all-mountain ski that excels in both the on and off piste disciplines, however there are higher achievers in both disciplines. If you have a focus in either of these areas, they are better choices, however the balance between them can certainly be found in the Paragon 93.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Skis true to size.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
Smooth and easy to turn.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
All mountain. Definitely holds well on hardpack, but the tips float so they handled the piles of spring snow easily. Easy to turn and smooth in the mixed conditions. Handled the bumps okay but not be their forte.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
Intermediate to expert. An expert can have a lot of fun with these. The ease of turning makes it good for intermediates and offers the ability to advance to expert.
If you could change anything about these skis, what would you change and why?
I wouldn’t change much. The rocker tips sometimes bounced. I’m betting they would on frozen corduroy.
