What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

Smooth and easy to turn.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

All mountain. Definitely holds well on hardpack, but the tips float so they handled the piles of spring snow easily. Easy to turn and smooth in the mixed conditions. Handled the bumps okay but not be their forte.

What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?

Intermediate to expert. An expert can have a lot of fun with these. The ease of turning makes it good for intermediates and offers the ability to advance to expert.

If you could change anything about these skis, what would you change and why?

I wouldn’t change much. The rocker tips sometimes bounced. I’m betting they would on frozen corduroy.

True to size, thanks to a slightly more traditional camp profile. It feels like it skis a little bit long

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

Super fun. The two sheets of metal means it’s quite beefy, but the more energy you give it the more it gives you back. I didn’t find the speed limit on these, I found them to be super fun to ski bouncing in, around and over moguls and then charging through the soft snow. I could see myself skiing this as a daily driver.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

One of the most dynamic all-mountain skis out there. Enough torsional stiffness for confident edge grip and just the right amount of suppleness in the flex to provide approachability and forgivingness without giving up much in the ways of power and stability. Would be a contender for an east-coast, one-ski-quiver.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

All-mountain, groomers, carving, off trail (Trees, bumps). A strong and energetic construction mixed with a good amount of tip rocker and taper make this thing incredibly versatile.

Advanced to expert skiers would get the most out of this ski.

Lively and energetic with good edge hold. Tail released quite easily and predictably but at higher speeds it lost some of its stability and deflected more. Overall a very approachable ski but no standout characteristic.

Appropriate Terrain

All around. Anything with less than 2 inches of snow. Carves really well and is quite quick so good in bumps and trees but at higher speeds deflects and looses some stability.

Appropriate Skier

Intermediate up. Very easy to ski and not super heavy. Stronger skiers may prefer a more stable, stronger ski.

Other Thoughts

The noise. Its got this weird tingy sound when skiing. Would also make the ski a touch stronger and heavier as it felt like it deflected quite easily.

Another awesome ski from Kastle that will excel in all-mountain conditions provided the skier is advanced enough to handle the lack of forgiveness in variable snow conditions. Requires you to remain forward in your stance or get bucked off, especially in bumps.

The Paragon feels like a very precise all-terrain instrument. It felt comfortable at a variety of speeds and turn shapes, and even though we had it on pretty firm early season snow here in Vermont, it's easy to tell that the tip shape is eager to be in softer stuff as well. Underfoot, the ski is rock-solid and a lot of skiers are going to like this move from the FX series.

Appropriate Terrain

As a 93, it's supremely versatile. Great carver on groomers, grippy on ice, and has a rockered and tapered tip that'll stay on top of fresh snow. Overall, this ski seems happier on-trail and in a carved turn, but if you want it to go elsewhere and be more adventurous, it's certainly capable.

Appropriate Skier

While the ski is capable of handling a varied set of terrain and snow conditions, the pilot had better be skilled, as this ski is pretty stiff. It's not that heavy, but we've noticed that the fiberglass laminates in these skis have a lot to offer when it comes to rebound and energy, it's just not terribly easy to access the high speed stability here. I think experts will do the best, and it'll get progressively lower from there on out.

Other Thoughts

I'd like a bit more smoothness and quietness here. Although the performance is top-notch, it's a bit loud.

My first impression was how smooth this ski is, even when you start putting some speed through it. I felt planted but not locked in, at any point in a turn I felt like breaking off would be easy and that the tails wouldn't catch. They also were pretty light, which made navigating bumps and woods a breeze. I had a great time on this ski and would happily ski it again in the future.

Appropriate Terrain

This is a great ski for your typical weekday at the mountain. the 93mm waist is great for what you typically find at resorts but not ideal for a big powder day.

Appropriate Skier

This is definitely more for advanced and expert skiers.
