What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

My first impression of the Stockli Montero was that it felt incredibly smooth and confident on edge. It was very damp and made medium and longer turns on groomers feel powerful yet controlled, without any nervous chatter.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

I would recommend this ski primarily for groomed trails and frontside all‑mountain terrain. Its strong edge hold and damp construction let it cut cleanly through firm or scraped‑off hardpack while still feeling stable and predictable when the surface gets a bit chopped up.

What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?

This ski is most appropriate for advanced to expert skiers who like to drive the ski actively and carve with good edge angles at moderate to high speeds. It suits a technically oriented skier who wants precision, stability, and a race‑inspired feel more than a loose ride.

Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?

The tail has strong edge grip and finishes the turn very decisively, which feels great when you are on top of it, but it is not very forgiving if you get lazy or in the back seat and will punish sloppy technique.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

First impression was immediately how smooth it felt. Coming out of each turn I felt very controlled and balanced.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

I was on groomers, but it felt surprisingly light and playful so I would be interested to see how it does in bumpier terrain and if it can maintain tha smooth like feeling.

What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?

I think this is a perfect carver ski for women who love to carve but aren’t skiing that aggressively. Older ladies or even lighter young women who can appreciate a quality turn without having to work the ski that much.

Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?

Going to try the AX in hopes it performs similarly, just because I like a more aggressive ski and the AW felt a little too soft.

I knew I’d love this ski and it did not disappoint; it’s made for the most reliable aggressive carving turns, it loves to get up on edge.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

This is an all mountain ski that really shows off on steep firm groomers.

This is for sure a ski for experts and particularly for former racers.

While this ski does lack versatility, it is SO much fun to carve on is a standout for me.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?

These felt confident, precise, and planted underfoot. With their narrower waist, they clung right on to groomed, firm snow. Turning was smooth and predictable, with strong edge grip that inspired confidence at speed and connected each turn.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

This ski shines on groomed runs, firm snow, and variable or slightly chopped terrain. While I'm sure these could handle deep powder, firm conditions that require control and stability seem to be their strength especially where the ability to really carve is key.

What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?

These excelled when making turns with strong edge engagement and technique. Beginners or intermediates may struggle to find the sweet spot, while more advanced/expert skiers will appreciate how they translate subtle input into confident turns at speed.

My first impression was that it was a solid frontside ski that performed nicely on the groomers. I noticed a little bit of chatter at speed, but overall it was enjoyable.

I’d recommend it for groomed runs. I imagine that it could handle a range of frontside conditions, but not sure I’d take it into the woods.

This ski would work well for an intermediate to advanced skier who wants a good frontside option. It’s approachable enough for someone building carving confidence

First and foremost - I love ski testing! Thank you for inviting me again and appreciate after several years away. I also love ski testing when a ski completely surprises you to the point that you are enjoying so much you have to look down to remember what you are skiing! This does not happen often but when it does it is the best feeling!

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

The Montero AW loves the challenge of front side terrain changes as they show off its depth of ability and flexibility that makes this ski so enjoyable.

I see the Montero AW as an advanced to expert ski and teaching ski.

I really enjoyed my connection with this ski as I've never experienced. The Montero AW reminded me of a first dance that turned into dancing the night away without wanting to say goodnight...

Quick, fast and nimble, the Montero AW is a smooth quick turner. The energy you get from the ski is poppy and fun, and can be a little aggressive once your legs get tired. I had a blast skiing quick short turns, but would not be able to ski this all day as its drive to turn is a bit much.

For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?

Frontside carving dream, it's meant to turn and turn a lot! From ice to groomers, its a confident ski on all front side conditions.
