The women’s specific Stockli Montero AW returns for the 2025 season unchanged and ready to deliver strong performance and all-mountain versatility. We saw its introduction last season, revealing a blend between Montero’s AX shape with the longer turn shape of the AR but with a slightly softer flex. This combination turned out to be quite a success as it delivers powerful carving capabilities in a wider body shape, inviting confidence and maneuverability in off-piste zones as well. Quick and agile with a powerful finish, it is incredibly stable and smooth at high speeds. With a premium build, well-rounded shape and intuitive feel, the Montero AW attracts more advanced level skiers who value poise and precision in a carving capacity.

From a construction standpoint, we start with a lightweight wood core consisting of poplar and beech. From there, Stockli adds metal and fiberglass laminates to ramp up the level of stiffness and strength from tip to tail. With their signature Flex Torsion Control technology, special cutouts are incorporated crosswise and lengthwise in the metal laminate in both the front and back of the ski for better and more controlled flex and torsion. To provide exceptional dampness and smooth consistency, Stockli uses a unique construction element that utilizes an epoxy that contains rubber dust. These small particles of rubber hidden within the adhesive layers of the ski do a fantastic job of filtering out unwanted vibrations and keeping things smooth. Regardless of what terrain or conditions this ski encounters, it has no issue plowing through and staying on its intended line. As to be expected, Tester Megan Papineau commented “I wouldn’t call it super playful so much as a slalom ski. It likes to be high up on edge carving”. This makes sense as it is intended to perform strongly on-piste and in a carved turn rather than playfully performing off-piste.
The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Stockli Montero AWShape is important to consider here as it takes on more of an all-mountain personality. With tip and tail rocker, initiating a turn feels smooth and effortless. A narrower all-mountain ski, the 80 mm waist width is bookended by a 122 mm tip width and 106 mm tail width. While the tail is narrower and squared off, the tip features a round, spoony shape that offers great maneuverability and some float for when the snow gets chopped up a bit. In the 158 cm length, the AW generates a 14.2-meter turn radius, which is relatively short and encourages shorter, more slalom-like skiing, especially when you factor in the softer flex pattern. For longer radius turns, the tip and tail rocker work together to create smooth, predictable turns at higher speeds.
I think we can speak for everyone when we say that the addition of the Montero AW ski to Stockli’s women’s ski line was incredibly exciting. With a higher level of accessibility, more skiers can reap the benefits of this ski’s high-performance level. Poised, precise, and smooth, those looking to carve up groomers and still have some versatility will love the range of capabilities this ski offers.
