DESCRIPTION

A true one-quiver all-mountain ski, the Kastle Sublime 88 pairs a poplar and beech wood core with two layers of titanal and a progressive rockered shape. Skiers get real range across conditions: edge grip on hard snow, float when things soften up, and a forgiving personality that doesn't require a perfect stance to enjoy.

Why we like it:

Two sheets of Titanal in a ski this approachable is unusual. Most all-mountain skis at this friendliness level skip the metal in favor of lighter constructions. Kastle didn't make that compromise, and the result is a ski that can absorb chop and hold an edge even when you're skiing relaxed.

Who it's for:

Advancing intermediate through advanced skiers who want one ski for the whole mountain and don't want to sacrifice edge hold for versatility. A great step-up ski for someone moving into bigger, more varied terrain.

Highlights:

Construction is shared across the Sublime line: a Twin Core that alternates poplar and beech for varied flex along the length, two sheets of Titanal above and below for damping and grip, and the Powerzone Sidewall for a smooth, forgiving entry into the turn. What changes from the Sublime 83 to the 88 is the dimensions and the resulting feel. With an 88mm waist and a 130mm tip, the Sublime 88 has more surface area to work with, which means real float in soft snow without giving up on-trail manners. The All-Mountain Rocker in the tip is paired with a slightly more pronounced rocker in the tail, and the 18.4-meter radius at the 180cm gives this ski a longer-arc personality than the narrower Sublime 83. Hollowtech 2.0 keeps the shovel light, and the Milled Tip plus Fast Grip Shovel and Hook Free Tail tuning deliver predictable engagement at the start of the turn and clean release at the end. It's a quietly capable ski that does a little of everything well.

Things to consider:

The same compromises that make this width versatile also keep it from being best-in-class anywhere. It's not as locked-in as the narrower MX84 on groomers and not as floaty as the wider Sublime 93 in deep snow. It's a true generalist, not a specialist.

Fit & sizing considerations:

True to length. Stick with what you usually ride. Skiers who like a bit more ski under them in soft conditions can size up; the rockered tail keeps things manageable.
