2027 Salomon QST 100 Skis
The 2027 Salomon QST 100 with Tyrolia Attack LYT 11 GW Bindings sits at the heart of Salomon's freeride lineup, a one-quiver all-mountain ski for skiers who spend more time off the groomers than on them. A full poplar woodcore, basalt and fiberglass layup, and cork-dampened tip and tail rocker profile give it real float in fresh snow without giving up composure when conditions firm up. It is a confident, well-rounded platform that does not lean too far in any one direction. We paired the QST 100 with the Tyrolia Attack LYT 11 GW because of the Attack’s light weight and reliability for all mountain and freeride skiers. Thanks to a 15% reduction in weight, the Attack LYT 11 is the perfect binding option for lighter weight freeriders, and keeps this setup on the lighter side without sacrificing power or performance.
Why we like it:
The cork inlays tucked into the tip and tail rocker zones are subtle but extremely effective. They smooth out chatter in chopped-up snow without adding swing weight, so the ski stays nimble in tight spots but feels planted when you open it up. The shape also strikes a really nice balance between float and edge engagement for a ski this wide.
Who it's for:
This is the ski you take on a trip when you have no idea what the snow will be doing, which makes it a fit for advanced and expert skiers wanting one pair for soft snow, variable conditions, and the odd groomer lap. Aggressive intermediates ready to spend more time off-trail will also do well here, though it wants a confident skier to get the most out of it.
Highlights:
Where the QST line really sets itself apart is the new Cork Damplifier, a single piece of cork and TPU placed inside the rocker profile at each end of the ski. It absorbs vibration and dampens chop without piling on weight, so the ski stays light and quick but feels noticeably calmer than the previous generation when the snow gets rough. Beneath that sits a full poplar woodcore with tip-to-tail basalt and fiberglass fibers, a combination delivering smooth, progressive flex and consistent edge grip along the length of the ski. The freeride rocker profile with camber underfoot blends generous tip rocker for float, a solid camber zone for hard-snow grip, and a rockered tail that releases cleanly out of turns, all wrapped around a 100 mm waist. The redesigned shape has been tuned for more progressive turn engagement, so it feels intuitive whether you are carving on packed snow or smearing through powder. Fine-tuned for 2027, the Attack LYT 11 is designed to bring the ideal level of safety and performance to skiers looking for a light weight binding for a wide-bodied all-mountain or freeride ski. The new FR LYT Toe is 15% lighter, and offers a sliding AFD for precise and reliable release as well as plenty of elastic travel. Tyrolia’s SX FR Heel is easy to step into, offering an intuitive and frustration-free experience whether you’re stepping into your skis to start your day, or cleaning up from a pow day yardsale.
Things to consider:
This is a freeride ski first and a carver second. It will hold an edge on groomers, but skiers who spend most of their time on hardpack will be happier on the QST 94, and dedicated powder skiers chasing maximum float should look at the QST 106 instead.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Your usual size is the right call. Drop a length if you prefer a quicker, more maneuverable ski, or go up if stability and float in deep snow matter more.
