In the world of value-oriented big-mountain twins, the Arbor Shiloh Rocker is not only a sharp-looking board, but it’s also a fun and strong performer as well. Thanks to the shape, profile, and construction of the board, riders will benefit from Arbor’s amazing reputation when it comes to blending awesome performance with fantastic value. Even at that good value, the Shiloh Rocker is built with a bamboo power ply top laminate that provides silence, dampness, and flex. Bamboo is a very interesting material because it’s on the softer side of the woods, mostly because it’s technically a grass. At the same time, Arbor includes their Double Barrell II core which provides snap, energy, and a thoughtful amount of flexibility to articulate in the softer snow and fresh pow. Whether you’re popping pillows or ripping down wide-open bowls, this mid-level flex, which Arbor calls a 4 out of 10, will allow you to keep your board firmly attached to the snow and fully in control. It also allows for the rider to put their input as to the shape and duration of the turn, while a stiffer board requires more input, the Shiloh evokes a far more playful and fun-loving nature. Bi-axial fiberglass laminates complete the build, giving the Shiloh Rocker excellent snap and pop into and out of the turns. It’s a great build and shape for a big-mountain twin, giving riders an excellent value to performance ratio.

John Gernt rode the 158, and noted that it felt just like a 158—true to size and a great length for the intended application. He scored the Shiloh Rocker top marks of 4 out of 5 for overall impression, quickness, and maneuverability. Stability, playfulness, forgiveness, and versatility all got 3’s, showing a well-rounded average for this big-mountain twin. JG notes that this was his “Second favorite board of the day, on the last run of the day, which says something. Easy to ride and turn without thinking or putting too much effort into it. It could be really fun in soft spring snow or even new fresh snow. Twin feeling, set back or it can be centered up.” That range of mounts makes a lot of sense for a board like this—able to provide a multi-directional nature and personality goes a long way for a lot of riders. It also sounds like JG was a fan of the friendlier flex pattern of the Shiloh Rocker, and that speaks volumes as to the playfulness and overall fun-factor involved.

Jarrod Ogden was also on the 158, but he found that it was a bit long for him, as he could have gone smaller. It’s hard to get more consistent, high-end, or versatile than Jarrod’s scores, as he gave the Shiloh Rocker straight-4's out of 5 right across the board. This means that for Jarrod, the Shiloh Rocker performs well above average in all test categories. Jarrod states that “This is a good-looking board that is an all-mountain shredder. Good for the rider who likes rocker profiles and strong value.” The smoothness of the rocker certainly stands out for anyone who rides boards like this, allowing for fun floaty performance in a variety of snow conditions and terrain types, but with a focus on the big-mountain softer snow.

Intermediates through advanced riders will love the rockered profile of the Shiloh. If you ride in snowier zones, bigger mountains, and in a multi-directional format, this big-mountain twin should be at or near the top of your list. With the art to match the strong and beautiful performance, the Shiloh Rocker has a lot to offer a wide variety of riders who are relentless in their search for fresh snow.
