For park rats and urban riders, the 2023 Rossignol Retox snowboard offers exceptional performance and progressive technique, turning every inch of terrain into a playground. Featuring a true twin shape and 100% camber profile, riders will experience enhanced pop and balance for effortless freestyle control and maximum stability all in one. With a 7/10 flex, you have a level of stiffness that provides the shock absorption and sturdy foundation needed for stomping big hits. But that’s not all you want when in a freestyle-focused board- maneuverability and energetic responsiveness are ideal for pressing and popping. Featuring an ultra-blunt tip and tail, riders will love the lighter swing weight, leaving endless room for spinning off jumps and onto rails. Not to mention the Amptek Elite Rocker profile maintains a strong edge grip for riding in firm conditions or on fast groomers while also providing explosive energy and feedback. For advanced to expert riders, going from park features to natural terrain will feel intuitive and strong, leaving you feeling confident all over the mountain.

For testers, we had three different riders on the same length of 153. With Anthony and Eric agreeing that it felt true to size, Andy found it to be too short for his liking. Looking at how their time went riding the Retox, we see a variety of reactions and scores. Starting with Anthony, he thought the board was a “do it all twin that will be there for you when you let loose.” Short but sweet, it sounds like Anthony summed it up nicely with the “do it all” title, highlighting the fact that while it is a true twin/freestyle board, it is strong and reliable at the same time. With that in mind, he found strengths in stability, maneuverability, forgiveness, and overall impression, giving out 4s for each. With 3’s for versatility, torsional stiffness, and playfulness, the lowest of the bunch was a 2 for flotation. While it may seem surprising that playfulness didn’t score higher, it sounds like Anthony saw a more well-rounded version of this otherwise freestyle forward board, speaking to its various abilities. Eric, who also noted that it was true to size, thought the Retox was “super playful but held a good edge in the corn. Would be a fun spring/park/small mountain board. Would not be my choice for an everyday board but would a great addition to the quiver.” He gave out 5/5 for maneuverability and playfulness, which adds up, and 4/5 for flotation, forgiveness, and overall impression. While their impression varied slightly, this is exactly why we like to host the snowboard test, giving us a variety of takes on the same product.
As for Andy, he dished out mostly 3’s, with 4’s for stability and maneuverability and a 2 for overall impression. There does seem to be a pattern here amongst our testers though, with all three of them highlighting both stability and maneuverability, which is excellent given what this board is intended for. An agile park board with reliable stability is exactly what Rossignol was going for with the Retox. In Andy’s words “I said this earlier but the board was just too short for me, I wanted extra length in the turns. But it did feel stable for me as a larger rider so it has that going for it.” Riding on a board that just isn’t the right fit for you can certainly affect your overall experience unfortunately, though he still was able to find the positives despite the shorter length.
The 2023 Rossignol Retox is the perfect board for riders with a knack for park and urban features, designed to amplify pop and style. With a wide range of capabilities and reliable stability and edge grip, performance is not limited to one type of arena. Take your freestyle maneuvers inside and outside of the park with confidence and power on the Rossignol Retox.
