With a new name and a new look, the 2025 Volkl Secret 84 returns structurally unchanged from the Yumi name. Thanks to some creative re-branding on Volkl’s behalf, the Secret 84 is now lumped into the higher performance section of the lineup. While it contains the same construction as the Yumi 84 in the past, we’re constantly amazed at how well these skis perform in a variety of conditions and terrain. In addition, skiers of all styles and abilities can enjoy the Secret 84 as it is an easy turner with quickness, agility, and energy. At 84 mm underfoot, the Secret 84 is agreeable to most on-trail activities from groomers to bumps and trees. Certainly, wider skiers have more of a place when it comes to deeper and softer snow, but these aren’t too shabby. From progressing beginners all the way to gentle expert skiers, the 2025 Volkl Secret 84 is an amazing choice.

Volkl puts a lot of thought and energy into all of their skis, but the all-mountain range gets top billing. We start with a lightweight multi-layer wood core that consists of poplar and beech. On top of that core, we see a titanal plate. This delivers grip and power to the edges while keeping the ends of the skis more mobile and agile. While the wider skis in the line use a titanal frame, the Secret 84 uses a glass frame for increased energy and precision. This ski ends up being quite light, with the 161 sitting on the scale at a paltry 1420 grams per ski. This weight allows skiers to feel like they’re gliding on air—super easy and fun to initiate the turn with good energy out of the back due to the glass frame. If you are looking for something that instills confidence daily, this is the place to be.

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Volkl Secret 84

Not only is the build of the ski something to behold, but the shaping is very innovative as well. Volkl uses their cutting-edge 3D Radius Sidecut to power the ski’s versatility. With a shorter turn radius in the underfoot zone and longer radii in the tips and tails, skiers are able to vary turn shapes and style with greater ease than ever before. That 161, boasting measurements of 125/84/107 mm, hits a middle arc of 14-meters while the ends create a 19 and 17-meter turn respectively. This puts a lot of power in the skier’s hands to dictate how the ski will behave on a given run. We get some tip and tail rocker in these skis, but not a ton. This helps with turn initiation and completion without getting too crazy with the bends and curves. The skis are very simple to turn, mainly because of this gentle rocker.

These skis have a very broad audience and appeal. Pretty much any skier at any level can hop right on these and enjoy. Whether you’re a first-time ski buyer looking for something to grow into, or a seasoned veteran looking for a blend of light weight and agile performance, the Secret 84 is built for you. This is one of those skis that fits many applications and checks a whole lot of boxes. For anyone looking to maximize the enjoyment and efficiency of their ski day, Secret 84 should be at the top of the list.
